Thread: Non-Recursive 3 Minute Buff Macro

Heya. I was just curious if anyone has developed a good method to give out quick buffs once the recursive macro thing goes away? I do at-the-keyboard buffing with a recursive pause-less macro and get them done in 3 minutes. I've looked around the boards to find an alternative to this method, but most of the macros I've seen have pauses in them, or they're recursive. Even if I manually flourish as fast as I can, I don't see me doing a buff as quickly as 3 minutes. I do, however, see me developing carpal tunnel syndrome in 3 minutes or less. ;-)

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Nonrecursive pause macro?

How about making a macro that is;

/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/flo 1;
/pause 1;
/daz 1;
Then stick it in your toolbar under f1. You just tap that f1 key everytime you see a dazzle. Or if hitting a hotkey 12 times is too hard make it twice as long the you only have to hit a hot key 6 times. Or you can go nuts and make it four times longer and only need to hit it once.

I have one (okay I stole one from Tiaga...) where all I do is have my flourishes for the buff but instead of making them continue looping for the entire buff, I simply put in a tell at the end along the lines of /tell ikewe hey! hit the F8 key again! Then all you need do is hit the F8 key until you have satisfied the 120 flourishes requirement. That can be determined by however many flourishes you put into your non-recursive macro.

Ah, I didn't know about the 120 flourishes thing. Is that the total number of flourishes you need to do in order to complete a full mind buff? That helps tremendously! Thank you!

/tell Umiio Buff macro is done!

This is the non-looping version of a macro Doasa gave me for buffing. 30 flourishes, repeat four times for 120 total.

Because the flourishes all go at once, "underneath" each other, only the first one in each set is actually animated. This particular macro is used with Popular2.

You only need 120 flourishes is the simple answer, but you can't do them all at once. The most tried and true method is to do 5 flourishes every 8 seconds. Do that 24 times and you've got a buff.

I'm pretty sure you can only do 5 flourishes every 10 seconds.
If i have a looping macro running with no pause (or 0.1 or so) then it only does 5 flourishes every 10 seconds.

I did a few tests, and I think 10 seconds is the timer.
If i had 8 seconds then sometimes it was done at 8 seconds intervalls, but then sometimes it was 16 seconds. considering the times it happened it seems the "flourish timer" is reset in 10 second intervals since you started. (can explain it using a screenshot if you wanna know more )

Anyway, I also tested a macro. Its able to buff someone for 2 hour duration without using loops or anything.
Unfortunately its at the highest possible size macros are allowed to have (which seems to be around 900 characters).
I had added a /echo Buff Done to the end of it, and after the relog (when the file is saved and reloaded) only a /ec was remaining from that last line, so there's really nothing more you can add to it.
/flo is the shortest form of /flourish and /pause can't be shortend. if you use /paus or anything like that it does a /pausedance, which seems to identical to /stopdance, so also no more potential to shorten it anymore.

Unfortunately that means you'll have to do /setperform yourself and also keep an eye on when it ends.

Here it is: its really ugly, but works

/flo 1;
/flo 2;

/flo 1;
/flo 2;

/flo 3;

Not sure if you can just copy/paste it back into the game, the forum or IE or whatever might add some characters at the end of each line that makes the whole thing longer and therefore will make it be cut again.

Well as long as looping macros are allowed I will use the macro I used so far

Correct, 10 seconds is the interval.. But with a 10 second pause, lag can result in some being missed because they are delayed and go into the next 10 second interval. 8 second pause takes care of that. In truth though, 120 flourishes isn't exactly needed.. Every 10 seconds counts the same as a flourish, so doing the max flourishes, it's really only 100 actual flourishes. However if you do an 8 second pause, you need to account for 1/5th of the flourishes being missed because the pause is too short, which makes it 120 actual flourishes.

well...
If they slip into the next 10 second interval, then the next flo's are done 10 seconds later in the next intervall.
So actually there's no flo missed
but yes, I see your point, and guess it works

And yes I know about that every "auto-tick" counts as a flourish toward the buff as well, if you count my macro its exactly 100 flo's and it will do 20 normal ticks, being 120 in total

Not necessarily... Depending on the timing you may get something like this..

Flo
Flo
Flo
Tick
Flo
Flo
(10 seconds)
Flo
(Lag spike)
Tick
Flo
Flo
Flo
Flo
(10 seconds)
Flo
Flo (Ignored)
Flo (Ignored)
Tick
Flo
Flo

Network lag doesn't delay the next execution of the macro, it only delays the commands getting to the server.

hehe, hi there
Looks like a good chance to bring a disregarded old idea of me back to the light it earns. *wink*

Loopless Buff Macro - Thread
(Replying to this post would be considered necro-posting, so reply here)

btw. I am not using the macros I presented there anymore. Instead I use eight quite simple macros for buffing:

/flourish 1;
/pause 2;
/flourish 1;
/flourish 1;
/flourish 1;
/flourish 1;

.
.
.

/flourish 8;
/pause 2;
/flourish 8;
/flourish 8;
/flourish 8;
/flourish 8;

And dragged them on my third dancing tab (first is for simple dancing, second for bandflourishes). The two second pause is for safety, just in case I pressed the button to early.
