IGN Interview dated March 15, 2005
"Most recently, he was VP and Austin studio manager for Sony Online Entertainment, responsible for Star Wars Galaxies along with other unannounced projects.

"Once and Future Tyrant" is the appellation Gordon currently applies to himself, a playful take-off on his nickname, "Tyrant", and his current status, which is between projects."

Jonric: On the other side of the coin, what do you see the primary obstacles to and drags on growth within the same time frame?

Gordon Walton: We are our own worst enemies as an industry. Derivative, me-too experiences with no unique value proposition pollute our market and leave consumers bored and jaded. Poor quality offerings drive potential customers out of our market forever.

Every new massively multiplayer offering should be centered on driving new customers to trial the experience. Most games in progress now are designed to steal current customers from a competitor, which is clearly not going to drive overall growth. It is, in fact, more risky to try and be "safe" than it is to take risks when it comes to creative product offerings like games.

Given the current state of SWG, that struck me as strangely relevant...
