I am writing to to further address the fear that is spreading that we are losing out in the CURB.

While it is true that it has been said that there will be no more mind wounds, there WILL still be BattleFatigue, and we WILL be able to provide Mind Buffs. Read for yourselves below.

Health, Action, Mind pools

  • A character's maximum health will increase with the character's combat level up to 300%. New character health will be 1000, maxed character health will be 3000.
  • Players will be able to reference their combat level.
  • Short term buffs will modify this health value no more than 20%.
  • Long term buffs will modify this health value no more than 10%.
  • Species modifiers will affect no more than 10% of a base statistic.

The profession trees for Entertainers, Musicians, Dancers and Image Designers will be affected by the Combat Upgrade, and will likely need some profession tweaking because of the changes with wounds, stat migration and buffs to the mind. We will make adjustments to entertainers by creating some long lasting, minor buffs for combat professions.

Battle Fatigue is still part of combat.

There it is, in black and white (with some blue thrown in), from the mouths of the DEVs themselves. Entertainers are not going away, entertainers will still be very much needed. We just won't be able to heal wounds anymore, and our buffs will be reduced along with every other buff in the game.

To me, the buff issue does not matter as much; and in fact, if implemented poorly, can undermine this class and the ability to play it more than having no buff at all.

The current system of buffs, I am convinced, has led to the unattended routinization of this class, undermined any foundation for a performance, and is merely the quest to "master algebra," amusement value, notwithstanding.

So to tell you the truth, Ihareo, I would bealmost grateful to them if they took buffs from this class. Why? Because the very "liveness" of the players on both ends created tension we couldn't fully eliminate.

I don't know that many people have thought we're losing buffs all together.

But what we most likely ARE going to lose is demand for buffs. Instead of fixing the loophole that allows buffbots, they're just removing the desire to create them -- but that hurts us just as much.

Unfortunately the main focus of the profession shifted to buffing over the past 9 months to a year, and many of us have optimized our routines, our skill sets, our game play focus to be as competitive as possible with the NPCs SOE won't purge from the profession. So I think people are justified in being upset that we're not getting a high demand service in replace of the one we're losing.

Especially in light of the fact that it's exploitative gameplay and players who are, once again, the catalyst for taking something away from us.

I'm sure most of us will adjust, just like I'm sure there will be a million other changes to the published CU docs before it actually happens.

The REAL truth is we don't really know what's going to happen, and unless you have a crystal ball that includes your version as well as anyone else's.

I don't really have an opinion one way or another on the buff issue. I was a dancer before buffs, and I'll be a dancer if they take buffs away.

My only real concern is the massive and rapid spread of mis-information. That just peels my tomato to no end.

I agree with Sirii. Buffs never worked for us. They added a lot for people that didn't care for entertainers, but nothing for entertainers but headaches and unwanted grief.

You can't code in a way to make people suddenly like to play a way that is very much not achiever, explorer, killer friendly

They really haven't said there will be mind buffs anymore, and I doubt that there will. Mind and action pools will be mostly static. My reading from what they posted is that they will create a new type of buff for us to give. However, when that buff is created, what it will affect, and how valuable it will be to combatants or anyone else is up in the air.

By the way, I do think that we should push for the ability to apply this buff, whatever it is, to ourselves!!

As far as battle fatigue, yes, it will still be in the game. However, we do not know how it will accrue, how quickly it will accrue, or what effect it will have on gameplay.
