Thread: Just a dancer looking for a server to call home (Decisions decisions!)
My first post here, please be gentle.
Without going too far off topic, I've been watching the threads for a while (lil lurking me) to see if SWG would be my kind of game(aside from being a Star Wars junkie and all...heh). So far, the strong roleplay community sounds like a dream come true. From all I've read, I decided Entertainer would be the life for me. I finally went out and got my copy last night. Now the decision comes - where to begin? I have read that there are a pleathora of "unoffical" servers for this, that, or the other thing, but what I'm mostly looking for is a chance to roleplay the life of an artist and dancer in the SWG world.
I'm afraid I don't have any IRL friends who play MMORPGs, so I don't really have a direction to turn to. Would you, the community of dancers and respected artists, be willing to lend a guiding hand? I hope to someday participate as a member of the dancers and entertainers community of matureartists (not macro bots.. why bother if your not challenged to something beyond the basic tools your given? But that isarant for another day).
I'm looking for a welcoming community who might take a newbie under they're wing to teach her the ropes. Any advice would be apprecated. I can make it on my own two feet, but isn't it more fun to have friends to share the journey with?
If you are apart of a server, planet, city, even Cantina with a fun attitude where a newbie can learn her feet, I'd love to hear about it...
Thanks again to all the dancers who've posted they're thoughts, feelings, ideas, and guides. I've been enjoying them, and taking notes. ^_^

I've met alot of friendly people on Kauri though I find it takes a long time to load and isn't the most stable server out there (though it's more stable than some other servers). As for advice on dancing Flawed Diamond seems to post great advice.

Chilastra has two major centers of dancing and entertaining--Theed, Naboo and Coronet City, Corellia.
Both places are always jam packed every night with customers AND friendly and helpful entertainers. I am usually on Theed, and it is always full of regular dancers and customers. Also, there are lots of medics who seem to enjoy joining to heal your action, so you can end up dancing all night without stopping ![]()
First of all welcome to SWG! you are going to love it. I can tell you that I was lucky that I randomly chose Kauri as my server (and boy do i mean random!). Other than the fact that it always seems to be the first to crash, Kauri is the place for entertainers. On an average evening in the Theed Cantina we have a group of 20 entertainers (that is the maximum group size) plus a waiting list of eager dancers and musicians waiting their turn to get in and reap the benifits of group XP! While there are a few macro-philes who step away from the keyboard too often, most are avidly engaged in flirtatious conversation throughout their entertainment. We always welcome newbies into the Kauri Theed Cantina.... infact we usually offer them cheap or free our old costumes and instruments we no longer need! And there is a Master Tailor that hangs out in Theed that regularly tips us each 1000 creds a pop because we keep his shop in buisiness. We really hope you decide to join us, but most importantly, we hope you enjoy SWG!

You can join me on Bloodfin!
The most crowded cantina is in Bestine, but most of the cantinas are great. I myself am located in Moenia, Naboo. I'm usually one of the most advanced dancers there and I like to take care of the new girls or guys. The audience there is friendly and the fellow entertainers are great. Plus, since Bloodfin is the unofficial PvP server, we need as many dancers as we can get. Hehe.
If you join Bloodfin, drop me a /tell. I'll help get you started. ![]()
