Thread: Solution to AFK entertainer Macro-ers
now, i'm not one to say that all entertainer macro-ing is bad. i'm guilty of running a dance macro while at work and running flourish macros for laying on buffs and whatnot. but with the current crop of holotainers i think there needs to be something that at least combats this problem.
my solution... is a simple one.
to watch or listen to an entertainer/musician/dancer... you have to select them from the radial menu, click or select the watch/listen thingie.
why not...have the dancer/musician/entertainer have to accept that advance. make it so there's no real command that'll accept the statement without a mouse click. ...it's the mouse click that's the great roadblock for macros using the ingame system. it's the only thing keeping the crafting professions from being flooded with cheap and effortless/unattended macro-ing. the need to click resources.
why not have all entertainer skills require a similiar roadblock. you could still macro dancing exp. or specific skill exp. but ent healing would be denied to you if you macro. so it would require people to at least spend some time at the controls.
maybe this change would have to come along with new ways to generate or get ent healing exp. or a reduction in the amounts of ent healing required to master a profession.
but if you reduced them... and made it so you couldn't effortlessly macro the exp. simply by requiring people to click a little "yes" in a box. then i think you'd solve 2 of the larger issues facing all entertainer classes today.
i dunno... sure this idea isn't new. i apologize if i'm sorta beating a dead horse with a dead idea. but i really hate going into the major cantinas these days. it's really gotten out of hand.

Every profession has some amount of afk macro people. Even combat they can macro targeting and shooting on a noob area like theed hunting grounds.
The devs put macros in the game to make the game especially the grind parts easier and so as not to force someone to have to completely baby sit a repetitive process, in other words allow you to go get a drink, bathroom, etc with out having your character merely sit like a lump after the queue spam clears.
The real issue that needs to be dealt with isn't macroing as much as it is courtesy. cut out the annoying spam messages and such. Most entertainers won't mind a quiet unassuming afk macro person as long as they are polite and considerate.
If they must yell for tips, heals, or the location of their vendor please put it on a separte macro and put a looooooong pause in it. There is no reason to have 6 chat bubbles over your head saying heal me since you couldn't possibly burnaction that fast.
adjust your stats heavy on the cost and regen action stats and then action pool. You can always switch it back to the way you had it later.

And if they were to do so and they got caught their account would be banned. And it would not be hard to catch, since entertainers have to be in public places to gain xp.
if you open the holocron (ctrl + H) in the FAQ section, afk macroing is deemed very acceptable... unless 'auto it' is some kind of third party program i dont know of, but surely that is up to the user's wanton negelct for spyware, and embedded advertising bots...
Why do people think we're not aware of this? Of course we know Sony's stance on this issue.
