Ok, I am an aspiring Master TKA/Dancer, just hit novice dancer.

I have searched and can't find anything on this.

Can an entertainer self buff their mind? Docs can buff themselves, I was kinda hoping we could as dancers.

Ok, never mind.

Finally made my way through the long, but extremely informative, thread on buffing.

*sigh* Guess that means I am the one to constantly drop from mind still. Oh well, I will keep my group up some.

The whole issue of self-buffing has caused me to ponder it very deeply. Finally, I have concluded allowing dancers and musicians to buff themselves to be unbalanced. As such, I do not support it.

Mind is the weak link in HAM, and it is good that it is. I like the current HAM system, and I am very reluctant to give too much power to mind. However, doctors can buff an average of 2k to all red and greenstats, sometimes hitting 3k. Mind clearly needs a boost, as well, since having an extra3k health and action does not help all that much when you only have 700 mind. The boost, though, needs to be weaker--elsethe devs wouldneed to constantly increase mind damage hits, which makes mind buffing a virtual necessity, which becomes a royal pain. . . .

I believe the devs managed a genius solution by basing the blue buffs as a percentage. I also see iIt is clear the blue buffs are in the realm of the dancers and musicians, hereafter lumped together as "entertainers" for ease. No other profession ever even touches the blue stats. (Well, combat medics might be, soon, but that is damage, not wounds or buffing. Hopefully, it is weak enough to be an "incap-only" skill.)

The most obvious comparison when it comes to entertainer buffing is the doctor, and I believe it would be a good idea to try to keep theblue buffingand the doctor buffing on roughly equal parity in terms of game balance.(Point: I am a novice dancer / master doctor.) Doctors can not only buff all the red and green stats, but they can buff themselves, as well. Why not enable the dancers and musicians to buff themselves?

Unfortunately, there is a major difference in how doctors and the entertainers buff, in that doctors use complicated resources and factories to make their buffs. As such, doctorstend to be rather selectivewhen buffing themselves, since maintaining a near-24/7 buff would be extremely expensive.

Entertainers, on the other hand, need only perform for a few minutes, and the entire group is buffed. Compared to the doctors, this is completely effortless and can almost be sustained 24/7. (Other than the timer being broken for blue buffs but not doctor buffs. Hope that is fixed soon.)

Death removes buffs, as well (even when we docsresuscitate the victim ), meaning doctors have to use resources to reapply their buffs. Entertainers just need a few minutes.

Of course, doctors have more powerful buffs; the downside is, doctors have a wide range--the 3k buff could end up a 750 buff, instead. Entertainers know exactly how much they are buffing, every time.

(Entertainer buffs do have a weakness the doctor buffs do not, other than no self-buffing: Doctors can buff every stat they can heal, entertainers have their stats split between them. But, I will not tread down that road here.)

Giving the self-buff would permit the entertainers to have a virtually free buff at known levels almost constantly. This simply strikes me as far too much power. As a master doctor, I would have double my mind all the time, no questions asked, no costs to pay. Personally, I do not want that much power if it does not involve a commensurate cost, which I do not see here. (Not that I would not use it if I had it, mind. I am no saint. )

Ok, my friend was telling me of this skill in the meditate line of a TKA, that was a self buff to stats. I think it was force something? Anyway, I was wondering how much it buffs for and how long it lasts.

Power Boost is the skill. It adds 50% of your Mind stat to Health Action and Mind. Duration ranges from 5 to 10 minutes depending on what level you are in the meditate line.

I'd say getting up to meditate 4 no matter what your combat prof. is worth it.

getting powerboost is worth it alone just for the fact that it also increases your mind by 50% along with your other stats, I've always found it extremely usefull in soloing no matter what combat prof I was working on at the time.

It is useful when you're soloing and you want a little extra HAM for those "just in case" situations, but I wouldn't consider it a huge bonus. Power boost will buff your primary HAM but your secondary stats don't get a boost.
