Thread: Make it easy to find entertainers to heal/buff ?

Hmm I think the title sucks pfft. Anyways. I know Bria has an ent chat channel. And when ever I am on Bloodfin I start up"Cantina". I was thinking that not only as a way to help all of us entertainers find other entertainers to talk to or jam with. That making these known to your servers, as a way to get in touch with entertainers when they need healing or buffing, might help change other players views on entertainers. As well as help us find some more credits here and there. Just a thought...

It's certainly a nice idea, and I've actually seen the ent channel on Bria used that way once or twice, but I have a feeling that the same people who say that they can't find live entertainers for heals and buffs are too lazy to go to the trouble of joining a chat channel, asking politely, and then travelling to wherever the entertainer is. I would be very happy to find otherwise, however. Maybe a dedicated channel called EntBuffRequest or some such would be better so that the regular entertainer channel stays pretty much with the entertainers?

Oh PULLLEEEAAASEEE! /EntBuffRequest?!? You'll just have buffbots loop spam in there as part of their macro.

Well I figured it would happen so un-often at first/ever that making a new channel just for that seemed a bit much to me. As for the spam of buff bots it's been a while since I've done it or seen it used but can't they be set up moderated ? I cant quite remember what the option under Private is when making channels... I'll look at it 3when I wake up here in a few hours...

There's already a way to find Master Dancers and Musicians. It's the Search page in the Community panel. I was found that way many times.

Of course, now most of those found are AFK, but it just shows you that people have become to lazy to use the tools that are ALREADY in the system.

Somewhere in the forums I asked about changing the player search function so that it worked more like the bazaar searches. Levels of searching by local area, planet-wide, and galaxy-wide should be available options, I think. It really would be helpful.

Really? I've had people from across a planet ask me to go to them to dance before. I thought that was the result of the search feature.

I'll have to test it out just so I know what I'm talking about. Thanks for the heads up

The search function only seems to filter the /who list which is cut off after 32 people are found, making it useless. So it would seem to be luck of the draw as to if you show up on /who and are then found when someone searches. I'm not quite sure what criteria /who uses to determine the 32 people it will show you before it gives up, but it doesn't seem to be physical proximity.

I am Dancer and Musician, I add Docs to my friendlist because I need Quickness buff. I add them when I meet some nice ones, you can make a designated EntBuffGroup in your friendlist, and uncheck the box that gives a message when they are online. Then all you have to do is to check your friendlist, sort by group and see if any of your fav entertainers are online when you are in need of a buff. Of course this only works after you have found some in the first place to add!

Well, it happened to me on Bria just last night:

I was dancing with a bunch of friends in Four Rivers on Corellia (It's in the south east) when out of no where I get a tell from someone asking for some healing. I ask him where we was, and he said he was close to the Rebel Base!! That's in the north west. When I told him where I was his response was "Hmm, I wonder why you came up in my search then?"

Considering that I was with at least 10 other entertainers at the time, most more experienced than me but one or two less, it was a weird thing to have happen...

Anyway, just wanted to mention that the search feature may be all screwed up. Use with caution
