Thread: mind buff oddity

Does anyone know if the mind buff properties of groups has changed? Last night I was grouped with a hunting partner while doing a /setperform mind buff for someone else. My hunting partner was watching and did get a 2 hour buff but it was only about a 50% increase rather than the 100% for the /setperform patron. I've never encountered anything like this but didn't want to send a bug report if this is some intentional thing the devs did. Anyone know??

Cheers,

Hi

I haven't encountered your problem, but I thought I mention although I am sure you know that when doing a group buff, the buff takes longer. (Time for /setp buff)xpeople in your group.

All I can think off that made it half....

No, buff in group doesn't take longer thats the advantage of groupbuff. You can buff up to 19 people at once in 3 minutes 10 seconds (actually 20 people since you can /setperform one outside the group).

Only explanation i have is that your friend watched a grouped dancer with only Tech 3, and the dancer /stopdanced at some point, and your partner never /stopwatched but just left. Through a bug/feature you don't stopwatch automatically if the dancer has /stopdanced.

So when he /stopwatched you then, he actually stopped watching the Tech 3 dancer, and got that buff...

Ok if mindbuffs in groups doesn't take longer I must be missinformed. Every thread about it I have read (including the sticky on top) says that this is the case....has this been changed then?

Tiaga, the wonderful entertainer corrospondent, did a very thorough testing of buffing and how it works.

No my partner was watching me (I was the only entertainer present) and I am a Master Dancer. Sounds like it's a bug so I'll be sure to report it if it happens again.

Thanks all.

Was your partner already brandied up?

Remember thatdance buffs work off of the base mind stat, not the modified mind pool after being enhanced. If, for example, your partner has an 800 basemind, and was double shotted up on 400 brandy (taking it up to1600 mind), then your 100% buff of base (another 800, bringing it up to around 2400) would only appear to be a 50% buff.

Just a thought as to how or why this could have occured.

No he was not "brandied up". I've never had any problems with the mind buff (been giving them to groups and individuals for about4-5 months now) so have no idea why this went awry. My original thought was that perhaps the devs changed the static/group buff but since no one else has experienced this I'm just going to chalk it up to one of those bizarre things that happens sometimes.

Thanks again though.
