Thread: Entertaining Strongbodia

I skimmed through the thread on the Bria forum and I wanted to address the entertainers and not have the thread bothered by the practical jokers of Bria

For those who don't know me, A'Ri is a former Master Dancer. I attended the first Cantina Crawl on Bria, roleplay 80% of the time, and love to give Javier a hard time. As a dancer I did what I could for the Empire by dancing for our combatants before and during base raids and defense. Eventually, I put away my dancing shoesand during my transition phaseI was a dancer and combat medic (one of those evil and feared folks flinging over-powered and over-distanced poo). I didn't know much about PvP back then.

I know much more now.

Strongbodia is the home of Left For Dead (LFD).These guys/gals are EXTREMELY into the GCW. For the most part they do not roleplay. Had the entertainers showed up when the guild's bases were cold, they may have been entertained by y'all... we'll never know. Sadly, you had the misfortune of showing up at a very BAD time. You may not be able to understand why the banner didn't ask nicely,"What are you guys doing here?" How can I explain this...

Act first; ask questions later. That about sums it up during defense. If you feel that you were unreasonably banned, simply ask to be unbanned at a later date. It's unfortuante that some of you couldn't use the shuttle to leave the city... but LFD is not a guild of carebears. Don't mock them because they banned you; because you don't understand their reasoning.

When I was a dancer/tailor I would run around overt all the time. As a roleplayer I thought it was important that A'Ri proudly show the galaxy who she worked for, etc. I attended my first cantina crawl as an overt Some of you will remember me saying, "Uh.. guys... I've been asked to leave the city again or be banned." I thought it was hilarious that people were "afraid" of an overt DANCER. And these cities didn't have bases. The LFD person that banned the group was taking precautionary actions. We entertainers are RPers (well, most of us). From a RPing perspective it makes a lot of sense. A city is bracing itself for an attack by the enemy. The enemy has been known to smuggle allies into strategic places to attempt to turn the tide in the middle of battle. The inhabitants of the city are not going to believe you just HAPPENED to show up in a LARGE group of BLUE during their most vulnerable time with no intention of foul play. From a PVPingstandpoint it still makes sense.

I know several of the ppl in LFD, and if I didn't love my own guild so much I'd probably seek to join their ranks or another of the PvPing guilds who would have taken the exact same action.

Having said all that... Feel free to dance the night away in Mandalore. Dantooine is LAGGY so I don't really advise it. We don't ban blue on-sight.. unless, of course, you visit while our four bases are hot

To tell you the truth, A'Ri, I was not at the Crawl. I did show up at Strongbodia the next day, however, and performed for them. They seemed agreeable enough. But let me ask you this question, A'Ri, why did you take such great pains in posting this? After all, we are merely a bunch of entertainers. Many of which are not even on Bria. Certainly they could NEVER do anything to harm Strongboida, LFD, or anyting else. Why take such great pains to ask those who felt slighted to think well of them again? Why do you, or LFD even care what the Cantina Crawl entertainers think of them and their city? And please do not take this question as taking LFD to task. Like I said, I wasn't there, and I am not personally involved.

Merely entertainers? I was never "merely" anything, nor is my alt "merely" an entertainer. Javier, Lei, Kirah... none of them are MERELY entertainers. My gosh! Don't belittle yourself just because some folks don't have an appreciation for our professions.

I posted of my own accord because there's already enough hostility on these forums. I wanted to attempt to explain my view of why things happened as they did. It's not that I want you to think well of LFD. LFD doesn't care what ppl think of them so why should I? I simply wanted to shed some light on the subject. It probably wasn't necessary but... I did it

Btw, this last CC is only the second one I've ever missed. (I think)

Well... Some of the LFD guys are actually friends of mine and they'd drop anything in a heartbeat to help out a friend. So I guess a part of me doesn't want the entertainers to start hating on LFD... or any of the other IMPERIAL guilds... Well.. the ones onmy friends list at least. *BIG GRIN*

Thanks for posting this A'Ri. I for one am happy to see a post that isn't .... well, that isn't like the one on the Bria forums

I don't think anyone is debating the reasons why the members of LFD banned the entertainers. It is, of course, their cantina and their city, they can do what they wish. We just thought it was quite funny. To me, would've been the best undercover job of all time. Finding 40 entertainers to show up in a city all dresses the same with entertainer flags showing. But, I agree with the ban first, ask questions later mentality. I've done that myself.

What I am a little upset about is that there was NO asking of questions later. In fact, when the entertainers wanted to leave the city that we obviously were not welcome to, they not only didn't unban people to let them leave, they started to ban us again just as the shuttle was arriving. I managed to get out before being banned, but alot of people, some being new to the server, were left banned. From what I understand (and correct me if I'm wrong), the entertainers asked to be unbanned so they could leave and were refused. This meant that alot of the new people had to walk.

I'm sorry, that isn't being prudent. That's being cruel.

So, again, I totally understand your point from a PvP perspective A'Ri. It's the afterwards that ticked me off, not the initial banning.

Anyway, water under the bridge, now we know not to ever go there again. I still had a terrific time and hope we can do it again

I'd love to host the CC in Mandalore (Dantooine) sometime but that planet is too laggy to do much of anything. Our city is there. Our four bases are there. But we rarely hunt anything there because of the lag.

*sob*

Devs have no love for Dantooine.

I'm thinking about organizing a "Hot Babes at Hot Bases" night.

We pick random cities where we know their bases are hot and defended.

We then dress up in cheapo composite armor, and on a given signal rush like crazy straight at their largest base. Since we'll all be neutral (coverts would have to sit this one out), they'll see a HUGE swarm of blue dots approaching their base from all sides, everyone wearing armor and wielding big bad weapons. We'll charge directly inside, and then strip to the hotpants and poplock until they ban us. Should take about half a minute. Then it's on to the next town.

Who's with me?!

LOL

That's hilarious.

Just don't do that in our city. The place is laggy enough. With a bunch of entertainers standing in front of the terminal we'd never stop the countdown.

Of course, Strongbadia is our first AND last stop

A'ri, while I can appreciate your concern for having two different sets of friends at each others forum throats as it were, have you done the same for us with your LFD friends that you did for them here? The banning was actually rather humorous, it was the lack of common courtesy received afterwards that has caused the real problem. Not one member of LFD has come forward to offer up any kind of appology for the way the entertainers who were banned last were treated. Instead they have, to a member, ridiculed us and even taken rather personal potshots at one or two entertainers who dared to voice their opinions. The LFD member who did the banning even came forward to not only admit it, but to brag about it and assure everyone he'd do it again! Sorry, while I can forgive them for their over-zealousness because their base was hot,I find it next to impossible to accept the attitude they've given us in the aftermath. Besides, they don't want our forgiveness or acceptance. They don't care - period. That has been made perfectly clear.

We didn't ask you to take sides, A'ri . . . its a shame you feel the need to stradle both camps, but I doubt the pressure to do so came from the ent side.

I agree with most...they have every right to ban as they see fit. I just think it's silly. Especially after it was fairly obvious we were quite innocuous and weren't doing anything threatening...altho, some may consider running around in hotpants threatening. But, most annoying was when some of the noob entertainers had to run to the nearest city because they continued to ban people as we left. That was just uncalled for.
