Can someone point me in the direction of a link to help set this up? Last night my dance partner and I tried to do this, but only the /bandflourish would synchronize. Is there a way to set your dance to synchronize as well? I've seen shows with 5 or more people in perfect step in dance and flourishes, and also changing dances and clothes in the middle of performing. I'd love to be able to perform shows with a few dance partners for our guild. Any info would be helpful.
Thank you

Most of us compensate somewhat for the lack of a tool to do this (something I'm trying to get for us) by using a macro that counts down to the group for everyone to start together. Mine is something like..
/g 1;
/pause 1;
/g 2;
/pause 1;
/g 3;
/pause 1;
/g GO!
/pause 1;
/g 2;
/pause 1;
/g 3;
/pause 1;
/g GO!
With everyone starting on GO. It usually takes a few practice attempts before everyone has it and it isn't flawless. With a bit of practice you can start up the base in synch with others who are already dancing..I hit ita lot of the timebut my buddy Merc is amazingly accurate with it.

Ooh my ears are burning...
It is actually possible to coordinate your base dance, and a lot of it is just practice - it has nothing to do with luck.
Each dance has a point in which it "loops" - you'll see your dancer kick. The hardest kicks to spot are the exotic dances but dances like Breakdance and Poplock are very easy. This is also where the dance begins. The trick is figuring out how much of a delay there is between when you select and begin your dance and when the dance actually begins.
For me, it's usually a one second delay. I let someone start dancing and then I watch for the "kick". I then count in seconds until the dance starts again (loops). I do this until I think I can predict when my one second delay will sync up with the dance they are doing. It might take a few tries but just keep track of how far ahead or behind you are of your partner(s) and just play it from there, changing it each time.
I'll... try to draw a diagram...
/\ - start
<
>
<
>
<- Last step
/\ - start-this is where you see the loop, after counting the number of seconds (or movements) since the dance started.
<
>
<
>
<-Last step -Press enter - this is when you want your dance to set up (keeping the timer in mind), usually on the last "step" ofthe dance before it loops again.
/\ - start
I hope this helped... Good luck with it, if you have any more questions just post 'em.

How long does this last though? My impression for the last 2 years has been a lot of the base dances are randomized... and with a random element you can't possibly keep the base dances synched. The easiest way to do this is start something like formal and do a bandflo, and then watch as every dancer then goes off in a different "base dance" direction. The only reason I can think of for this happening is a random component.

That is because when you started the base dance is not synced. For a dance like formal, the base dance moves around. So if you don't get them fixed right when you start your dancers are going to be flying all over the place in different directions. There is no random component. When you finish with a flourish, your base dance starts up again where it would be if you never flourished. So if you and your partner(s) are synchronized (and facing the same direction, haha) when you start the dance, you will STAY synchronized even when you're not flourishing.

They all go off in different directions if they started the base at different times. They synch up for the /bandflo then go back to where they each were in the base when the flo is over. If everyone is at the same point in the base when the /bandflo is called then you all come out of it at the same point in the base. But the bases are a static loop.

Ah, I see. So it depends on everyone starting at the same time.
I'm not ever going to bother trying that (I don't have a formal band anymore since everyone on it quit the game or the ent profs) but it's nice to know as a bit of trivia.

You cannot synchronize the base dance. Flourishes only. If you saw people base dancing in perfect synchrony it was pure and utter coincience/luck.

you can also equip or unequip a prop in your right hand to reset the loop.

In my testing, equiping a prop in your right hand resets it for the dancer but doesn't always reset it for the viewers. Too many things came along after this came to light for me to test it with every base dance and see where it works and doesn't. Hopefully soon I'll be able to get to that.
