why would they complicate mind buffing the way they have?
it seems as though they wanted it so we could mind buff primary and secondary at the same time by 2 different dancers in a group?thus shortening the span of getting a complete buff.
why not just make it so a single entertainer can choose to dance or play a song, and buff both stats in a 4 minute time period? meaning the entertainer picks what they wanna do,does it ,and after 4-5 minutes people are fully buffed? is this unheard of? wrong? stupid? i dont understand current choices made by the people making this game.
they didnt need to screw things up as bad as they did .. from what i could gather from patch notes. we were gonna beable to mind buff in 4-5 min both stats.. now were lucky if we find a dancer that isnt broken.
no offence intended to the fine entertainers in thie game ,its not your fault. i point my finger in one direction and it isnt at you fine people.

I guess the easiest answer Ob-gli would be that each class is unique and should be able to be part of the game as whole in their unique way.
I’m not trying to be the smart Alec here, but using your example, the same thing could be said about all the other professions.
Why bother with so many different classes and just make 3. Combatant, Healer and Crafter. And we would be able to master them all and still have some points to spare.
But if that were the case then the game would be very boring with absolutely no diversity.
I understand lots of people are very frustrated atm due to yet even more bugs being added but it is my understanding that today’s patch should fix the mind buff issue to work as before with added bonus of being able to receive enhancement to all the stats at a same time if the setting (dancer and musician working together) is available.

Were you under the impression that the patch was supposed to allow Dancer and Musician buffs to be interchangable, and both capable of buffing all 3 stats?
As far as I'm aware, that was never the case in game (though I may well be wrong if you go back far enough, but I could swear... anyway), and thus far I have never heard of that being a serious consideration.
I don't know what they thought they were doing that wound up screwing up the passive Dance Buff code, but I don't think it had anything to do with lumping ALL entertainer buffs together into a single performance from a single character.
If you're asking about why they decided over a year ago to make Dancers and Musicians give 2 different kinds of buffs, then I don't think this is the place to get a "hard" answer. Primarily you'll get peoples guessing opinions, which may be accurate but shouldn't be taken as Fact unless posted by a Dev who was involved at the time.
Out of curiosity, what patch notes told you that dancers would be able to buff all 3 mind stats, and that musicians would be able to buff all 3 mind stats?
As for "Dancers that aren't broken," well, the dancers aren't remotely broken. Bots are broken, but dancers aren't. I've done quite a bit of buffing since the infamous patch, and haven't had any problems at all using /setperform. Perhaps I'm lucky, or perhaps you're unlucky at finding a dancer capable of doing an Active mind buff (where the player actually targets you and is personally involved in starting the buffing process, rather than being off somewhere else while their pixels mindlessly loop commands). Start looking in out of the way places, or ask publically if anyone's seen a Live Dancer buffing.
I understand you don't blame us, but... I guess I'm finicky about wording. (Add any live buffing Dancers to your friends list so you can contact them to find out where they are when they log on - it helps a LOT)

no i never read anything in the patch notes that suggested they would beable to buff all 3 mind stats at once (from 1 entertainer) im saying i think it would be ideal if they had it this way.thats all i meant, what i thought i read in the patch notes was dancers and musicians were able to simultaneous buff both stats thus shortening the overall time of mind buffing to 4-5 minutes? with current problems, a few things that would make sense is A; allow master dancers to dance for 4 minutes and the people watching him/her could get a full mind buff in one session ,even while not grouped. and B: allow master musicans to do the same.. where you entertainers have a problem with this is beyond my comprehension as a combat profession eager to get in a fight..
alot of casual gamers and even the hardcore pvp players would most definatley welcome this type of buff system..i mean why wouldnt anyone want to get a full buff in 5 minutes? over 8 or 10 min?
one of the biggest problems i have atm , if the forced grouping ..theres times where people get passed leader who dont realise they need to reinvite the entertainer, theres times someone will invite the leader then disband before she/he joins the group ,theres times when overt rebels with leader wont invite known imperial pvp's looking to mind buff..we've all seen this type of stuff happen so a 8-10 minutes buff becomes double the time .
well i guess if your afk 12 hours a day you might not notice this stuff..

Sorry but you wouldn't have these issues, IMO, if you used "live" entertainers. I can do a primary mind buff in 3.20 min and the master musicians can do the secondaries in the same amount of time - that's just under 7 minutes. Now that we can dosimultaneous buffs and we have been keeping players in our group for 4 min for a passive buff. That is 4 (four) minutes total for both primary and secondary buffs.
There is no forced grouping when dealing with a "live" entertainer either. Most "live" entertainers prefer to control the group themselves.
Every individual has the right to refuse to buff a member of the opposite faction. I have rarely seen this happen but you should expect it if you choose a faction.
Seek out an ATK entertainer - you may like the results you receive.
Your final comment is inflammatory and uncalled for - but since it is apparent that you do not deal with "live" entertainers I won't take it as a slam.

I cannot help myself, so I beg the pardon of everyone else.
I guess if you used live entertainers, you might not be affected by that stuff.
That aside, the question of why each do different buffs is a trivial question at this point. It may well change, but until after the Combat Update, I consider it to remain trivial in the face of all the other issues SWG has to deal with.
On another unrelated and trivial note, just imagine if both kinds of performances could give all 3 buffs - what would that mean if another patch managed to screw up passive buffs again? At least as things stood this round, Musician buffs were still able to service entire groups in passive mode.
