Thread: The buff!

What do you think - is 2 hours long enough considering the time it takes to get somewhere (or in PVP, time for the oposition to prepare) - when doctor buffs can be applied anywhere on the planet.

I used to 'stack' or 'store' my mind buff (one of them) and then use it after the first ran out, but it seems they fixed that in one of the latest patches...

Mind buffs are very necessary in the game, I beleive they should be brought up to par with the doctor buffs (time wise..) 3 hours is much more reasonable I beleive..

I would like to know what you, the entertainers think of this? (Has this been brought up before?)

Yes it has been brought up before. Until the system changes, I'd encourage you to recruit an entertainer to your PvP team. Many of us have elite combat professions as well and could easily join your teams. Although we can't just pull out a droid and rebuff you, we can buff in many locations (camps, houses, theaters, hotels, cantinas) .

One thing I'd like to point out about the time it takes to prepare for combat... I have observed that it takes my guild an inordinate amount of time, not because they have to search for the buffs - we're right there together - but because they seem to lack the ability to pay attention and get organized. People show up late andhave, despite being told numerous times just moments before,no clue where to meet. You have to remind them 20 times to start watching or listening. You have to tell them repeatedly that they can now stop watching.... I'd strongly enourage groups to start working on these things more. With the new decreased buff application times we are going to start seeing, the teams who can get organized and get out are going to be the victors.

A dancer can have master brawler and master TK to be a pretty good and effective combatant. Likewise, master bralwer/master swords or master brawler/Pike or even fencer would be very effective.

Who knows... After the CURB we might even be able to have marksman based PvP templates with master dance or music too

I absolutely agree with what you said - it has happened before heaps..

Perhaps if they allowed to 'overbuff' the entertainer buffs, like the doctor ones, it would work better in those situations..

But it is more difficult to find a dancer or entertainer willing to come on a PVP raid than it is to find a Bio Engineer on my server

Speaking as a player who has one char that is Dancer/Musician and another that is BE/Chef (neither has combat skills), while I have participated in several base takedowns & they're always fun, when I play with my pvp friends, I'm usually on my entertainer. I won't go into details of the contributions I bring to a pvp group as those are our little secrets I'm also frequently hired by a group of Jedi who hunt together regularly. In addition to having me nearby if anyone dies or they want a second buff, I'm also happy to let them know when I see BH combing the area or notice a member of one of the known gank squads nearby. Hire an entertainer, make a friend.

Not sure what your server is but I can offer this. I was very afraid of joining in on PvP events at first. Most of the people I saw involved in PvP were "template stackers" They had multiple combat skills. I only had one, Master Rifles. So I was certain I'd be more of a hindrance than a help. It wasn't until I participated in a base defense that I began to get over those fears. My guildmates have helped me by staging combat training sessions and offering tips and advice on all hunts, not just PvP. You might consider inviting entertainers to "combat training" parties (the word party is important as it usually catches our interest instantly).

Also keep in mind that some entertainers who have been around for a while may remember times when incap'd players and corpses were treated....let's just say they were not respected and some felt the need to be disgusting. I know a few female players who refuse to engage in any combat, PvP or PvE, because of this. Not sure how to solve this problem, just letting you know that that might be a problem you'll need to solve as well.

I do know what you're talking about, we had a whole guild on the server that repeatibly did this all the time, dispite screenshots and witnesses they got away with it time and time again.. Only after the community denied them access to everything did they decide to quit..

But yeah, I guess I should visit more cantinas and try to meet some more entertainers
