Thread: Another issue (nope... not AFKing)

I've looked through all the recent posts in here, and aside from a gajillion "blah blah blah...AFK" posts (god, aren't you all tired of that topic?) I am surprised to see that nobody complained about our Mind buffs getting nerfed in this latest update.

From the update notes:

Performance buffs now modify the players base attribute not their current max attribute.

This is mentioned in the "Combat" notes, but from what I've gathered so far, it basically applies only to us, and Musicians. It's worded to sound as if it is a general application to all buffing... but is it just me, or are all "physical" buffs based on how well they are crafted... totally irrelavent (sp?) to the actual stat it's modifying. Only the Mind, Focus, and WIllpower buffs are reliant on the level of the stat they are applied to. (ie: a Dr buff will give, say..."+2000" amount to your physical stat, regardless of whether the stat is 300, or 1000. Our buffs however will simply be 2x the current stat, or as it has been nerfed to now, 2x the base stat.)

Am I wrong in my understanding of this? Pls tell me I am...

You are correct with your statement. I have tested it with a master dancer.I watched her for ten to twelve minutes or so. I had a base mind pool of 700 at that time and I ended up with 1400 mind for 2 hours.

Yesterday my guildmate buffed me. I have 900 health. I received a 2100 buff, I ended up with 3000 health.

I read about it, but I never really cared about this because I dropped my dancing (3rd time) and never thought of it. Now I have started a new entertainer on a different server, hence my renewed interest on the matter.

Though, I am not sure what can be done about it. I have two other petpeeves. Unable to heal BF in camps, and of course unable to buff ourselves. Yes, we can ask others to buff us, and they usually are more than willing, however - they are not always available and become more rare as the planet contains more advanced content.

So now I have another petpeeve. We already take so long to buff and they even have to nerf that. Guess the devs lost their minds and want us to follow suit.

LOL I didn't mention them, again, cause they've been beaten to death around here already.

It had to be done because as a TK with powerboost I could raise my stats up around 5k in each HAM pool using a combination of food, spice, mind buffs and powerboost. Using a bug with doctor buffs it was also possible to get 5k secondary stat buffs for as a long as 5 mins.

Yeah I know what you mean... but besides the general nerf to us, they also nerfed TKA by making their self buff only take it's values from the base stat, not the modified stat. So they (TKAs) got it double bad. Our buff to them, and their own buff were both nerfed.

I think this is a case of they didn't mean for it to go as high as it does.

However I wish they'd give us the ability to have our buffs stack with themselves again. Before this was exploitable. (I got someone up to 48000 mind pool once - I kid you not.) Even with our old buffs this was exploitable, it just took a LOT longer to get any decent numbers. I stopped at 2000 focus (Off a musician alone, off a base of 450) because I didn't have a need to go higher.

I'm sorry. I did not mean to imply anything, and beating up a dead horse well. Dead is dead, I'll let it rest and hope for the best.

Tiaga, I see what you're saying, but if that's the case, it makes our buffs less valuable than Dr buffs. Any good Dr can easily add about 2000 to any given stat. Their buff is dependant on their skills and the ingrediants they use. Our buff is a percentage... period. There is no way we (Dancers, or Musicians to Focus and Will) will ever be able to add 2000 to anyones Mind pool now that theyve changed how it's calculated.

Err...how does this make our buffs less valuable than a Doctor's? Last time I checked, docs couldn't *touch* mind stats.

I don't really think this is a nerf. The devs apparently didn't want people to have 5k+ mind, so they closed a loophole. I don't think my PA is going to suddenly stop asking me along on raid preps just because a few of them can no longer use a loophole--1500 mind beats 750, period.

I also have no problem with being able to only buff by a set amount. Yes, docs can get their buffs over 2k. That same buff pack can also buff as low as 6-800. To get a decent buff pack, docs also have the huge pain in the butt of either having to gather good resources themselves, buy the resources, or buy the enhancement pack. As a dancer, my expenditure for time is nothing longer than it takes to apply the buff, during which I get to shoot the breeze with 2 or more PAs worth of people.
