Good afternoon all!

Let me introduce myself, my named is Nixi Soju from the tempest server. I used to plan a lot of server wide events for tempest before my departure of SWG. Now, that I've returned I'm interested to create a city solely for Events. I don't know if anyone else tried this on any other server and how successful you have been. So, I'm looking for some insightfrom you ofyour accomplishment or failure. With an Entertainer District - what are the perks?

Some of my thoughts for this Entertainer town that I'm picturing is

1) my City hall will be set up as an Arena for my weekly Royal Rumble events (it will be like going to see a boxing match, where you can place bets on the fighters and such) also, utilized it for 5 v 5 PvP match on special nights.

2) my PA Hall right now is decorated like a Casino - So i would run a Vegas Night there. I have tons of games for Vegas night and it's been very successful in the past. I have the dancer girls dressed up like Vegas girls and we play the dice games. =) The house always WINS!!! hehehe

3) my Cantina - currently decorated like the dating show - we hold Galaxy bachelor/Bachalorette game shows - winners usually get a trip to somewhere, credits and later they come on the forum and write about how their dates went. But we have held a Christmas party, Valentine's day party, talent shows, Dance performance shows...too many to name.

I have some other cool ideas but I'll list them at a future dates. What I'm interested out of this - would you as an entertainer want your own town? Do you think it's a good idea to have a town dedicated to just events? What would be a draw back? Your feed back is greatly appreciated.

thanks for reading.

No, the primary purpose of your town cannot be events. The most visible element of your town can be, but the town's #1 over-riding purpose must be creating a place for your residents to call home and your guests to feel comfortable and welcome. I've been running our city now for over 6 months, it was begun as a home for our non-long passed entertainer guild. The vision it started on is the one I still hold to as closely as I believe I can, to provide and atmosphere of 'community'. We now host a very popular cantina party every Sunday, and more often than not, the house is packed, and following anything in spatial is out of the question :9. We also host what we call 'War & Peace Night' Poetry and musical performances (singing) in the cantina, and simultaneously holding friendly sparring matches a scant 100 or so meters away at a theatre. If your are an RP city, remember to allow some drama to happen, but try not to get a reputation as a pit of villians, or a violent venue, you will discourage as many people as are attracted by that (though that depends on you intented audience, but trying to find a middle ground will supply you with the most potential guests, while discouraging both extremes of uber-violent power/metagamers and their opposites carebear types). The events will obviously need to be advertised well, but you'll find that in time, your events will grow....IF you leave people feeling like they can't wait until the next event in YOUR city, and that they want to share the fun they've had there and return with friends. Treat your citizens and guests like they are your most treasured asset, because if you want to forge a city of entertainment, THEY ARE.

just a few thoughts, feel free to take from these bits of wisdom what you think applies the most to your situation, and best of luck on your ventures!
