Thread: Rebel NPC gives mission....How do I finish it? Or is it borked?

Mission description is as follows: We're passing important data to a blockade runner whoose taking it offworld. Can't risk it going over the holonet. We're meeting outside a particular venue, but the ISB is tracking our smuggler relentlessly. We want you to distract the Imperials. Can you play, and maybe also do something unsually interesting while your there? You must perform for 10 minutes.

Target: Dancer

So I was out surveying on a newbie character he has all the beginning skilltrees. I see a group of rebels spawned so I go run up talk to them, One of them asks if I will do a mission I figure what the heck. Its the mission as written out above. The waypoint sends me to a player city on Tattooine. I continue to survey for 30ish minutes, then I take my slow speeder to nearest player city that has a shuttleport as the mission was 12,000 meters from where I got mission. I use player city shuttleport to take me to where the mission is in another player city cantina. The Golden waypoint is sparkling on the front door steps to this player city, there is only two trainers there outside set up by the player city where themission is. No one inside at all and no one outside(cept for the trainers) no other spawned NPC to distract. So I dance inside the cantina for 10 minutes, mixing in some flourishes when I'm not reading websites counting down the 10 minutes, I keep alt-tabbing between SWG client and Web browser, no mission complete message.

I go outside stand right where the golden waypoint is on the front door steps and dance for 10 minutes again mixing in the occasional flourish, no mission complete message. I go down in front of the cantina since it says distract said NPC out in front of cantina, and dance again for 10 minutes mixing in a flourish or two, no mission complete message.

So tell me, what am I doing wrong to complete this mission? Or is just a broken mision and I should abort it because this game is still broken after 2 years. Thx for any advice.

I think that's actually a Musician gig. I think they always say Dancer, but honestly I've never done an Ent mish with music. You could try playing Music for 10 minutes and if it still doesn't update, I would dump it. Sometimes they just really don't update. You do have to be inside the building though, no matter what the mission says.

You can't do music for dance gigs and vice versa can you guys? I've never tried.

Don’t know about NPC quests but with ent missions if it says dance then only dance counts for completing the missions …. Same for music. I know few times while little distracted I would take “wrong” kind of mission and then end up having a blonde moment trying to figure out why I didn’t get paid.

Yeah, sounds like you need to go inside and perform..

I'm interested to know if this awards faction points on completion.

Didn't last time I did one of these.

In the past, this would have been a GCW revamp item... but I don't totally understand how that's working now. Are GCW revamp items trickling down? I know Esh mentioned something as a GCW Revamp item (spy thing I think?) a while ago...

How are we being handled in that stuff now? Do you know? Or is it just best to get through our own changes first?

These have been around for a while (maybe since launch). I've yet to get one to complete for me and have tried both with music and dance on the same one. Panthu has completed one so we know they're not totally borked and she didn't receive fp for her's. They're so rare that I've not made a big deal about them not working (though they do get inclusion in the long issues list). I would like for them to be used as a starting point for Entertainer missions ina GCW revamp. This will take a little evolution and it's a little premature to get into details of what I have in mind.

Ahhh, okee! Thankies!

I'd think it would go more with a GCW revamp too, but it'd be super nice to not have to get fp just from combat missions.

As I've mentioned before, I have done these in the past a few times, and have completed them and have gotten FP in addition to the payout. I remember not too many months back I tried these again to see if they still worked the same way, and they did.

As far as what the original poster needs to do to complete the mission, don't worry about the background info. It's all just filler, and it doesn't actually mean anything. What you do have to do is go inside the building where you find the waypoint. That's the way all ent missions work. Also I notice in the text of your mission it says

Can you play, and maybe also do something unsually interesting while your there?

So it does sounds like it might be a musician mission. You might want to break out your slitherhorn, if you've got nothing better, and try playing music for 10 minutes. Then see if that completes it and I bet you will get an FP reward. If that still doesn't complete it, then just dump it.

Hello all, thank you for the responses!

Earlier today I logged on and drove back to the cantina in question on Tattooine. I had to make myself a slitherhorn, woo took a lot of metal to make one. Then I blew on the pipes for a good ten minutes and came away with a mission accomplished message and got paid as well as receiving that all powerful 16 or 19 faction points for completing the mission I forget which one of those numbers it was.

It was just a bit deceiving the mission message, it said dancer on it so I made the guess it was for dancing. Ahh well good luck in the future to you all.
