Thread: Dancing and Healing (Newbie Questions)

I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question, actually, since it has to do with both Dancers and Medics/Doctors/Combat Medics. However, I like this forum better so I'll ask it here. =P

My friend is taking field oriented professions, combat classes, and I plan to travel along with him. I also plan to take dancing. What I would like to know is:

1) What kinds of healing can a dancer not provide?

2) If a dancer cannot provide this healing service which of the three 'healing' professions would be able to?

3) Can a dancer provide the same services in a camp as they could in a city (cantina, theater)?

4) Can the above suggested 'healing' profession (if any was suggested) provide their healing service in a camp?

5)In any answer involving camps, does the camp have to be of a certain level to allow for the service to be provided?

Also worth mentioning is that basically everything I'll be doing will be in a camp. ^^; I am in no way interested in the actual fighting, nor pvp. For the sake of my RP concept my character will be setting up camp and waiting behind to heal up my comrades.

Thank you in advance for your assitance and advice.

The healing role will be completely removed from the Entertainer professions in the near future. Currently, the only stat that is healed by an entertainer is Battle Fatigue. (This will be removed from the game soon.) This cannot be healed in a camp.

I would recommend using the Doctor and Bio-Engineer professions (the second for crafting your medicines), and perhaps the Combat Medic profession. If you're not interested in entering combat in a support role, some form of combat skill would still be useful for self-preservation and in aiding the group during the event.

It sounds like you want my current template on Starsider - Master Dancer, Master Doctor, some ID.

As a Dancer, you can buff in camps but that's it. Currently we can heal BF in Cantinas (not in camps), but BF is scheduled to be phased out anyway. Combat Medic is the only other Healer Prof, but it focuses on combat so if you truly have no interest in leaving a camp or ever doing any damage on your own, Doc is the way to go.

Now, you could also go Master ID/Master Dancer and just pick up the the healing and enhancement lines from Doc (4 0 0 4). That might suit you just as well. I'm thinking of going to that myself. You wouldn't have as much armor mitigation and combat level though.

I'd forgot that they were going to remove BF...does that make just the x x x X line for Dancers moot? Or does it make some others also not worth getting at this time? Trying to save on skill points... ^^;

Thank you for the feedback. I'm looking into doctor now and possible character templates.

Yeah, Til mentioned BE. I was a M.BE/M.Dancer for a long time. You are really limited in what you can do on your own and you aren't as directly useful to combat players as a full on active healer, but it can be a lot of fun if you are really ok with pure "downtime" play. I think the two contrast nicely too, Dancer being so social and BE being so solo.

My only issue with BE is that I'm not really the crafting type. I prefer more support and social roles than solo activities (which I seem to find easy enough no matter what my profession).

*nods* Yeah, I'm not so much of the crafter myself and that's why I ended up dropping it too. The clones and DNA sampling were fun though.

I think you'll like Doc/Dancer. It's a good helper template. It's a little too early to say what's going to be "useful" with Dancer right now I think since we have so many updates that are going to change things soon, but that set up should stay good for you no matter what. If you don't want to take all the Dancer boxes till we see what's going on, you could just expand your ID skills (basing this on your sig ).

Thank you again for your help. ^^ I'm going to run around and find a trainer for novice medic starting tomorrow.
