Thread: Performer Tips and Tricks
I used to have on screen system messages turned off... and seperate windows for the following:
- System Messages
- Spatial Chat
- Group Chat
- Tells
- Guild Chat
With Combat on a seperate tab attached to the System window so I can check it if I need to, but don't see it otherwise... Unfortunately, my chat windows have not been saving from session to session and I have to either leave all my tabs lumped together of redo it all at every log in, so I have turned on screen system messages back on. I am not happy about this situation.
Before I turned on screen system messages back on, I missed several /tip messages... and I like to thank each person when they /tip me.
I do use custom chat colors... a LOT! I have flourish messages (and any other that I really don't need to see) set as close to the background color of my chat windows as I could get. This actually makes the important messages stand out more. For Example:
- You perform a flourish
- You perform a flourish
- Combat Monkey tips you 100 credits
- You perform a flourish
- You perform a flourish
I also have the option to not recieve messages from afk characters and I /addignore all spammers.
I'd adda fewother "tips" for newer entertainers as well:
1) create and use the "Planet Chat" tab. Many newer players on Shadowfire use this tab to ask questions and being able to answer them and offer assistance is a great way to get your name known and thus increase the number of people who will look for you when they want healing or inspiration
2) try to know where trainers for other professions (especially the elites since they don't show up on the planetary maps)are located and also vendors for weapons and armor. These are common questions asked by people in and near the cantina. Just as tip 1, any time you can help someone they'll remember
3) keep your eye on the doorway and make an effort to at least /wave when someone enters. It's even better if you can actually speak to them but sometimes that's harder. You'll find it easier to see this if you don't park yourself right at the bottom of the steps. When I walk into the cantina the first thing I wait for is some sign of life from an entertainer. If I get none then they don't get the healing xp - even if I have to travel to 10 planets in order to find someone. This goes for other entertainers as well. I find it extremely rude to walk into a cantina and get not so much as a /nod and then 5 minutes later when I start dancingI get an invite window popping up on my screen. We need to stick together as a community and that means looking at your fellow entertainers as people you can laugh and have fun with not as competition to be eyed with suspician or simply another 2 - 4 point xp boost
