Wow, they are getting rid of BF altogether. Didn't they massively shorten the time needed for entertainer buffs a while back?

What's the point of being an entertainer now. They won't have much function other than a very fast buff.

That's one thing I thought was cool about SWG when I first started playing. Professions like entertainer, tailor and image designer seemed something that would have some interest for girl gamers.

I hate to see the entertainer profession have even less function. Without some product or servicean entertainer can provide for others, there will be no demand and the profession will die.

It's too bad healing for entertainers was always a passive skill. People could just dance AFK and service 100s of players. The medic professions on the other hand had to actively use skills to get rid of wounds, etc.

Perhaps if entertainers had to use flourishes actively targeted at specific players they would have gotten more respect, had more value and people would have tipped them and treated them more likedoctors.

Actually here's how it should work.

One buff, one song....

A guy comes into a bar and sees a group of entertainers. He say's, "I need a stamina buff"

A dancer say's, "great the exotic dance number 2"

The dance targets the client and presses a skill.

The patron getsa dialog box that pops up and say's "Sarah Dancer has offered to perform a dance for you which will buff your Stamana. How much do you wish to tip?"

Patron types is 1000 gold or whatever.

Dance hits an agree button.

Dance last for about 2 mins and the dude gets his buff.

Next customer....

Each song and each dance would have it's own specific buff.

This could also work with groups as patrons. A whole group could receive the buff but no passive on lookers.

Also a group of musicians and dancers could perform a buff but it might last longer, be stronger or effect faster since an entire group is doing the buff or special high level buff would require a group to make happen; sorta like ritual magic.

Now you have dancers performing a real honest service for people and their various dances and songs would have real meaning.

Love,

Regana! Nice to see you in our humble (yeah right) forum! *chuckle*

Thanks for your concerns. It's a tad too early in my neck of the woods to eloborate on your points, but I'm sure you'll have some good discussions going on in this thread by the time I get back home from work (allowing that I still have a few active brain cells then, mind you). Mostly, I just wanted to say hi and welcome and that your interest in the entertainer class is appreciated.

We are getting new services. They honestly are a lot closer to what you are describing I think. Anyway, a Dev asked for feedback about them here.

Thats general idea has been disgussed, and most of the entertainers(not myself tho)in the forums are very agenst being "Forced" into performing a dance or even a flourish they dont like.

Another idea was to give us comands to select diffrent "methods" of buffing,so that we could still perform set performances and still buff anything we wanted. this other ideaw was posted in the musician forum by Warryyr, should look into that one too.
