Thread: A few quick questions

I'm a Tailor on Tarquines also training to be a Merchant (master hopefully).

I have a couple questions for my esteemed colleagues as they dispute the finer points of being a merchant.

1. Do we have a definitive explanation for how all Merchant xp is generated. Some say having more vendors gives more xp, others say it is dependent on the number of visits to your store, still others say that it revolves around anyone paying to entire your home. Please explain. I can't seem to get the same answer out of anyone. Does it actually SAY somewhere?

2. Dropping vendors. I have an NPC vendor in my store. no problem. I have a few friends and collectively we are trying to start a guild. Because I'm the merchant wannabe, they want to use my vending services. No problem. They each have their own store. The first is a furniture store, the second is a weapon store, the third is a resource store (he's a strip miner). I can currently place two additional vendors. I got to each place. They have me on the admin list and on the vendor list. I try to drop.....'You do not have adequate permissions.' Is there something I'm missing? I ticketed it as a bug three days ago with no response. Is this something remedial that I'm just missing?

3. Part of my business includes the production of clothing. To do this I use factories to generate the odds and ends needed to produce my clothing (things like metal brackets and synthetic panels). How is factory xp generated? What are the rules? This seems to fall into the same information black hole that merchant xp does. Does anyone know for sure?

4. Finally, is Master Merchant really worth it? I've seen reduced fees outlined, but are they REALLY worth it? Does it make an impact on your revenue? My store is small but I hope to be improving soon. I have great plans for it. Is spending my skill points on this extra spot worth it?

I need Merchant answers to progress effectively. Currently, I have one small house FILLED with displays of the materials I can make. I'm just to the south of Theed, Naboo. But, eventually I want to have specialty stores that truly focus on specific clothing items like shoes or dancer clothing or travel wear. You get the idea. To do that, I need vendors.

Your thoughts are appreciated and please don't tell me to read the forums. I've been all through these forums since BETA 2.

I think that browsing this board will fill in all your questions.

  1. No

  2. Yes, reported

  3. Don't know, maybe the Artisan board can help (I am also sure someone on this board can as well, I can't)

I hope this helps a little.

Right now -- I think this is accurate -- factory production of an item provides 10% (maybe 5%) of the particular type of crafting XP that crafting the item normally would produce. Stories differ about whether you need to be logged on, and close to the factory, in order to be credited with this xp. It seems as if you need both -- to be on, and to be near the factory. Factories also give "industrialist" xp, which is an anachronistic leftover from a profession that was removed in development. Factories don't give merchant xp.(I think. It's unclear what DOES give merchant XP, so maybe I shouldn't be saying that.....)

Is there a macro that will let you sit when your action is at acertain number and then stand when its at full? Also is there a way to play mp3's like you can in everquest? Please please please say yes. SWG music is totally killing my will to dance and fight.

As for the first one, I imagine there's some way you can figure out how to time it, but it would take a LOT of work. As to the second, I have the sound turned off in SWG and I always just run Winamp behind it. Works pretty well.

I just made Padawan yesterday finally , forgive my ingorance but i have a few questions, and not much time to search hundreds of threads.

1. I understand that xp loss upon deathblow from a BH is 2000 times the number of skill points invested in FS/Jedi skills. My question is what is the additional xp loss from cloning and is there a xp penality for normal deaths(without cloning)?

2. From what ive seen good stats on a crystal are 50/50 -9. What about on a krayt pearl? I would assume since they cost so much more the stats would be better, or is there just the increased chance of rolling good stats?

3. From the mini-pub notes, its sayes visiablitly is gained by equiping/igniting a saber and using force powers around people/npcs. Does wearing my robe and title around people/npcs also generate visiability? (not that i do this, but just so i know)

Thanks in advance.

1) The amount of xp loss from a BH is your number of skill points times 2000 (so if I have 150 skill points invested, the bounty on my head is 150k, and my xp loss is 300k). And yes, if you clone, you do lose an additional 200k xp

2) Premiums crystals and pearls are not all too different except for the fact that pealrs have lower speed.

3) You DO gain visibility for wearing ur robe around PCs and NPCs, but you don't gain visibility for having your tag on.

I hope that helps ya!

Question:

1. Is the rate of decay of a weapon... say a light laser rifle the same as all LLRs?

I realize that certain versions will have more hitpoints initially... thus a longer life.. but is the rate of decay the same or is it based on the weaponsmith and/or the relative strength of the LLR?

2. If you attach a powerup, say a high damage barrel.... if you remove it before all uses are expended it appears that you loose it... Is that correct?

3. While using a pup such as the one above does that cause the rate of decay to increase?

Thanks for answering the questions!

YES, it is the same

YES, it does dissappear

3. While using a pup such as the one above does that cause the rate of decay to increase?

I know it did before the CU, and I think it still does, but I am not positive about this.

Thanks for answering the questions!

I hope this helps
