Thread: Battle Fatigue SHOULD not be only a cantina/house fix

ok, I've been a master dancer since I started this game and have mantained it while going through my other professions...ie Master CH/TKA etc...but have kept my dancing profession for one simple reason, when I PVP with my crew I am a great asset because I heal all the CM's minds while they are off doing their work. Only thing is a dancer isn't really considered a "field" profession... and Y is that? I think that while we can buff in the field & heal wounds in the field...why can't we heal BF?

That is really the only problem with this profession...that and if Master Doctors can buff themselves, how come we can't? These things I think should be fixed and will maybe get some of the dancers out of cantinas (which can be a good thing...I mean the Galaxy is a cool place to explore) and into the playing fields with the rest of us.

There's no rational reason why battle fatigue cannot be healed in the field, and that's because it was added as a game machanic, not as a reality check. The whole reason it was added to the game was to bring people to cantinas. If you want to allow healing of it in the field, you may as well remove it altogether, since it defeats the purpose. Some have argued that only the biggest ranger camp ought to offer this, and I think that's a reasonable compromise.

As for the buffing, it's already been stated that there's a technical issue with buffing ourselfs. It's something the devs want to do, and will do, they just need to find the time to hurdle that technical issue, and on the grand scheme of things, this probably rates pretty low compared to all the other issues plaguing the game. But be patient and it'll happen.

Hello All, I am a Ranger but your subject line caught my attention. Rangers have been pushing for our largest camp (High Tech Field Base) to stay active during combat to act as a forward base for large groups and allowDancers to heal BF. IMO this would be perfect for Dancers. It would allow them to travel and be a welcome part hunting groups.

I believe the Dev's should make every profession a much needed part of every large group. As it stands right now, Ranger camps do not do much more than the simple camps we get as Scouts. This could be of great benefit to both our professions.

If you want your high end camps to be really popular then they ought to come ready with all the necessary ingredients for s'mores.

Oh, and a hot tub.

Mmmm... s'mores and a hot tub... man if Ranger camps came with those I'd have to drop musician and take up Ranger.

That or hire / make a Ranger my slave so I would have one of those wonderful camps to lounge around in whenever I wanted... hehehe.... I hope N'Raas didn't hear me say that.

I agree with the proposal of BF healing at the highest level camps, as a matter of fact, I envision several camps set out in rows by battlefields serving as mind healing bases, or one could even start to imagine nomadic groups of entertainers along with their bodyguards (battle profession players)in what we could call (I guess) a circus. Really, I'm not kidding, and master CHs could tag along with exotic creatures to help the show along. I think that'd be awesome.

How would this work financially?

well the problem with this scenario is that u can't have, say, a clan war in the middle of the tattoinian desert because the cloning stations simply aren't there. The only way that this would work is either by:

A) ppl agree not to death blow (so u can get up from incapp and actually go and get healed at the camp with all the master DOCs and Master entertainers). This is achievable but very hard to keep ppl from doing it in the heat of battles, especially between rival clans.

or

B) portable cloning facilities. A true Master Ranger camp should no only offer BF healing, but also a limited cloning facility (say, a basic one, where u CANNOT keep stored cloning data or else there'd be no healing at all), but also a recruiter (ifit is a factioned M Ranger) so u can:

1) die

2) clone ON LOCATION

3) heal-up as much as u wish

4) declare ON LOCATION

5) god kill some more, without losing a beat

Like that we can have epic clan battles wherever we wish! Have u noticed that we have planets that are 16x16km and all the raids and battles HAVE to take place around towns? NOt only would the fun gradient explode for all professions, but also, I can only imagine how much revenue doctors, rangers, and entertainers would make each time they got contracted to support a clan through a battle.

Think about it ppl, all these professions are fundamental to the game and they are right now, completely underused.

Yes! I believe that Rangers and Dancers could work as one in a hunting party that would be fantastic!

Great Compromise

I was asking for this a long time ago. Didn't get much support from the other dancers, many of whom were convinced it would "kill the cantina as the social center of the game."

Hope you have better luck.

"Ironically, while researching this piece a representative from Sony asked us to keep in mind that many of the players complaining "weren't playing the class right," and that the class was designed as a solo experience. Such a comment is indicative of the original Ultima Online mistake: not realizing that once an MMO is released to the public, it no longer belongs to the developers, it belongs to the people paying $14.99 a month for the service."

I'm not convinced they don't. Those things are practically luxury hotels. I'm not a fan of the healing BF in the field, but I have to admit, that camp looks pretty relaxing, like a good place to just kick back.

Its hard enogh getting players into all the cantinas that are popping up while maintaining service in the NPC cities. While I'm not against it I think there are more pressing issues for our profession than this one.

That I'll have to disagree with. Why does every cantina have to have an entertainer in it? It's not like players need healing spoon fed to them, most planets usually have at least one entertainer, and theres always entertainers in the big 3 cantinas. By spreading out, we're just hurting healing xp more.

With all due respect, this is the reason why we have individuals like the one posting the thread praising AFK dancers. Characters get mad when they have to waste valuable time catching shuttles to receve cantina service, and with all the existing cantinas and player cantinas, they don't have to. The reason that I am skeptical of the BF healing in camps is that many of us have invested five lots in player cantinas, and this change will make their cantinas less valuable. Frankly, as a master, I don't have to worry about XP anymore. Besides, every player, and every player city WANTS entertainment that is conveniently close to them; and quite frankly, I'd rather not spend my time in "grind capitals" helping AFK dancers level. The problem is that there is little enough incentive now for dancers to go where they are needed. Mission terminals can help, and they need to be fixed...BADLY. Registration needs to be LD fixed and made non-faction limited...BADLY. Self-buffing, and buffing protocols in general (like a timer) need to be fixed to make things more convinient for our profession...and would help live dancerswho BADLY need help. These are the things I think we as dancers need to start concerning ourselves with, although we are all entitled to our opinion.
