Thread: Comments and Questions from a Chef
I am a Chef and I placed the Cantina for our PA (Avian's Eyrie-Chilastra).
Knowing that "The" draw for a Cantina is the entertainers I have been trying to catch up on issues and insights in the entertainment area. So I naturally began here.
First off let me say that this forum hasa very high level of maturity and thought in its posters. Your level of understanding and subsequent discussion of the mechanics and other workings of entertainment however sometimes leave me at a loss. So I have some questions.
We are a neutral city established by a PA that is multi-factioned. I am a true neutral 0/0 faction pts. While we will try to provide services to all factions, sometimes we may not wish to for various reasons. The obvious way to do this I suppose is ban "baddies" from the structure, but what is /denyservice? How does it work? If an individual entertainer targets someone and does it, what happens? If someone in a group does it, is it a group deny?
Then a bigger issue, what is it that entertainer's seek in their determination of a player city Cantina in which to perform? Naturally a lot of clientle, but in many cases this is something of which comes first the chicken or the egg. To get entertainers we need customers, customers come because they know there are entertainers.... But I am sure there are more reasons you all would like to come to perform...ambience? a professionally administered facility? fixed fees?....I don't know...clue me in please.
But the best way for a player cantina to handle jerks is to simply ban them from the establishment. I'm not sure exactly how player-run cantinas work, but perhaps if you put trusted entertainers on the admin list they can perform bans.
Different entertainers will seek different things in a cantina, so there is no single answer and I can only speak to what I would find attractive. That would be a cantina with a reasonable amount of patrons, but more importantly, other entertainers that share my desires...that is performing well as a band, touring, having a lot of fun and taking things to a new level.
Hope I helped!
