Hey all,

Chefs are getting completely revamped. One of the things that we will be doing is buffs to skills and there has been some debate about how useful some of these skill mods are.

One of them is this:

Caramelized Pkneb
Type: Skill Mod
Effect: Buffs Healing Effectiveness (Dancing)

I don't have any numbers for you because they are not final yet, but if let's assume it is a +20 (made up number) for 20 minutes. How useful would you consider this buff? Would you buy this food?

i'd buy it. not everyone has the points to skill all the way to master (or up the healing lines).

Hey there SirVimes. I'll be really honest here bud, but the general feeling I see from Dancers is that we heal more then fast enough. Some even think we heal fast enough at novice really. There may be a few that would use it but I don't think theres going to be a very big market for it. Now if it buffed Danceing Skill or increased the rate we can apply buffs.. You'd sell a whole lot more.

I answered on the other thread but I will repeat it here. I seem to heal pretty darn fast as it is. I would not buy it. I can heal even the most greivously wounded/BFed person in a couple of minutes. What would the +20 do for me? Drop it by 20 seconds? Not worth it to me nor my "patient" I would imagine.

Also you need to realize that most patrons do NOT tip us for healing speed (I've had that happen exactly once). They tip for healing AMOUNT. I have seen formulas ranging from 1 cr per BF/wound healed to 10/per. Or they tip flat amounts (1000 every time, etc). I have rarely seen anyone tip more for healing speed.

I completely agree. Healing rates for a novice dancer are plenty fast already. We just learn the healing skills so we can get Master Dancer.

Someday it would be lovely if one of those dancing trees got revamped into something more useful. As they stand now, all they do is reduce the amount of time we get to perform for our clients!

I have to concur with my peers on this one. You have to look at it from an investment point of view. Is the investment of buying that buff going to pay itself off?

For example, if I use a buff that helps in combat, especially if it helps me to live or sustain less damage or that sort of thing, there is a direct financial benefit, whether that be completing the mission and getting the reward, using fewer stimpacks, avoiding cloning wounds, etc. In other words, the investment of getting that buff was well spent.

For dancers, the way we make money is via tips. I can say for sure that out of all the criteria our patrons use to determine who to tip, how much to tip, or whether to tip at all, our healing speed is probably not very significant. Sure, a person might tip more to a master than a novice, but outside of the obvious title it's difficult for your average person to really gauge the rate of healing. Thus, clothing with skill mods or buffs from food are probably a bad investment, at least the way things are set up right now. Part of this is because we're already so effective at healing as it is, and part is that there's simply no way for a customer to know that a specific dancer is better than your average dancer because of their buffs.

Now a drink or food that would reduce falling...you'd have a line outside your shop for a kilometer to buy that one!

I wouldn't buy that buff. I *would* buy a food that adds to my mind enhancement (allows me to buff by more than 100%).

I heal plenty fast as it is, and I've even got a bunch of bio engineer healing clothing that I've concluded is completely unnecessary.

I have to agree with my peers too. We have no problems with healing speed- but the buff speed takes forever. Being able to speed THAT up or to go beyond the 100% buff would be nice.

Of course changing the time it takes to do a full buff is aleady hard enough to figure out on our own...

Well.. I would repost what I replied with in the entertainer forum...... But it's already been said by nearly everyone, almost to the word in some cases.

SirVimes,

I saw the suggested chef changes on your forum and I can't wait to see how it works out. I agree with what others have written about buffing healing speed would not be as important as other things. Personally, I am really looking forwardTatooine Sunburns enhanced with the light flavor additive. It's by far my favorite drink in the cantina and seeing its duration increased would be great.

But there are other skill mods that we could suggest.Tekoa has already mentioned increasing buffing speed, and Velvet mentioned bonuses to dancing mind enhancement so that we could buff higher than 100%. The problem with the dancer skillsetis that we don't have that many skills: dancing knowledge, dancing mind enhancement, battle fatigue/mind wound healing, melee defense, and ranged defense.

I'm not sure what increased dancing knowledge does, but I think it means that we won't fall as much. Buffs to melee and ranged defense would be nice in combat, but it is not as useful to our dancing. A different way of looking at increasing healing speed is a food that when consumed by someone causes his or her mind and BF healing to increase dramatically when they watch us dance rather than having the dancer eat something to increase BF/wound healing.

If people have any other suggestions, maybe we should post them here so that SirVimes can take them back to the developers.
