Thread: Former Master Dancer w/ +0 Dance Experience??

I have a question. I was just looking through my skills and noticed that Dancing was listed with +0 in my experience. I am a former Master Dancer who has since dropped the profession completely, but was wondering if this is right? I am worried because it was a holocron profession and I surely shook my tail off, yet see the +0 in the exp and am worried that it didn't register or something. Can anyone explain? I see other exp for things like entertainer healing experience, and I have totally dropped all the entertainer skills since then too. Thanks.

Were you looking through your skill mods or your experience? If you are a twi'lek you will have innate entertainer healing abilities, so that won't be 0 even if you drop all of entertainer, I believe.

No, I am looking under "My Experience". It says "Dancing +0". I am a Zabrak.

Odd indeed. I wouldn't worry about it forgetting you were a dancer though.

I am a bit worried because like I said it was a holocron profession, and who knows what the completion is based on. Maybe I should ask a CSR.

Well if you've used a holo since and it didn't say dancer, you have nothing to worry about.

You can never "hold" in reserve more than 2x the maximum amount of XP needed for any particular skill box. How does this work? Some examples:

You are a Novice Dancer. You have Dance Knowledge 3 and no Dance Tech. Let's say (I forget what it is offhand so just excuse the made up numbers) DK 4 takes 200,000 xp, and DT 1 takes 100,000. The current maximum you could hold of XP then would be 2x the highest of those numbers, or 2 x 200,000 = 400,000. If you hit 400K without levelling, your exp pts will sit there.

Now once you hit master it keeps going up and up. Not sure where it stops but I would guess somewhere around 2x the highest amount you needed. Let's say it does, and that in this case that is in fact 200,000 (needed), so it caps at 400,000 at master, after all skills are filled in.

Now let's say you "sell back" your whole tech line. What happens to XP? Nothing. You still hold the 4 DK boxes and the max needed there is 200K, so you still can "hold" twice that. Now you sell back 3 DK boxes, however. Let's DK 2 is 125,000 (again, making that up). You have DK 1. You need 125K to "learn" (in your case, re-learn but the game doesn't care or remember) DK 2. That's the most dance XP you need. So you can no longer "hold" more than twice that. The max dance XP you have will then be shorn off at 250,000. That's right, the excess 150K vanishes.

Now let's say you drop all of dance. You had 250,000 (after having had 400K), but you only need (again, making up numbers) say 80,000 xp to be a Novice Dancer (you're now just an "Entertainer" again). Well, you can now only "hold" 2x that amount, or 160,000... the rest up to 250K would again be hacked off.

If you keep doing this, selling back all your dance skills down to novice entertainer, then you would only need 1,000 xp to get "Dance 1" in entertainer, and little by little all your dance XP would be chopped down until you had only 2K left.

Now I am not sure if all your dance XP goes away right at the point where you sell back novice entertainer or not, but even if it didn't, that's only 2,000 xp that you are missing. All the rest of it is already gone before that.

Actually, just like most of the combat professions, dancer xp caps at 900,000 when you become a Master Dancer.

It's a bit unfair to entertainers actualy, when i dropped everything in dance including entertainer my excess 300k dance xp remained. So i thought great if i take it back i get a nice boost as long as i level all at once and dont dance. However the second i took novice entertainer poof it all dissapeared.

With combat xp on the other hand i had 900000 surplus pistol xp and completely dropped pistoleer and marksman, recently i got marksman back and my 900000 pistol xp is still there waiting to be used, as long asI dont shoot a pistol.

Hm, odd...

I know I dropped artisan and I watched the xp slowly bleed off until at novice I think I had something like 2000 left. I had assumed it did that with all professions as well. I am going to be dropping a bunch of rifle and pistol skills to finish mastering Carbine. I will have to watch what happens.
