That was part of my ulterior motive. I mean, I could probably have spent five minutes at Stratics or Warcry or even the JTL forum itself and found that information on my own; by asking in a thread I hoped to open up a dialogue with those guys, and maybe give them a glimpse at an entertainer's perspective on our game-mechanic interdependency.
Or at least remind them that we exist.
Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to have worked.
I want to stress that I'm not doing this just for myself. I already have my time and place staked out. But I thought other entertainers might be interested too. I mean, I perform, I interact (sometimes), I get tipped (sometimes), there's no spam or AFK zombies....it's almost like the game's actually working. Surely I'm not the only one who's up for that.
And I think it couldn't hurt our relationship with the rest of the playerbase if we made an effort to spread out a little, and make ourselves more available to them. Back in Tiggs thread we talked about what kind of impression the new players attracted by JTL would get of the entertainer professions. At the time I said that "their first impression of the Entertainer professions is going to be shaped by the state those professions are in when they start playing," and "unless "after JTL" means RIGHT after JTL, there won't be a "next generation" or any kind of starting over. Those new players will resent us just as much as their predecessors." But if the way JTL works is channelling those new players away from the traditional zombie graveyards, then we may have a shot after all. But only if we're there.
What I had envisioned was that other people might do what I've done, and volunteer a night or two a week to be at a certain place at a consistant time, once they knew where all the good spots were. (for those who haven't followed the link above, I said I'd be at Nym's on Bria on Monday and Wednesday nights). We probably can't cover all the trainer locations on all the servers 23/7, but we could make a start.
My enthusiasm is starting to scare me a little. If I've soared off into la la land, by all means bring me down. I'm sure y'all would anyway.

"Because of the nature of how Jedi are realized in-game, ALL Jedi are L337 DudEz who thirst for power. I have never met a roleplaying Jedi, and I doubt I ever will."

I've learned a bit more about JTL in the meantime, and it's taken some of the wind out of my sails.
1. Pilots may rack up the BF and wounds, but that doesn't mean spit in space. I was wrong, they don't need us, not unless they want to move on to the ground game.
2. Pilots don't need to visit the mission/trainer NPC after a mission, so they can make the transition to the ground game from any spaceport. Like ones where they know they'll find an entertainer. Like Coronet.
In short, nothing's really changed. And to add insult to injury, someone parked a bot in Nym's Monday night. Traffic was down too, compared to last week.
And yet...
We still had a few watchers, and one of them tipped. Monday night was still better than my whole first month as an entertainer.

"Design is an iterative process. The necessary number of iterations is one more than the number you have currently done. This is true at any point in time."
I've no idea what will happen when we take a group of people up to the Mining Outpost on Dantooine or to Nym's Cantina on Lok and whether anyone will appreciate it but we'll see.

Actually, Pilots do need to return to their trainer for the next mission and for training in skills. Yes, they don't need healing... but many stop for healing just out of habit... black bars and BF = cantina. I personally am not a huge fan of Nym's after spending two nights there... Yes, there is traffic, but many go straight to the back to get another quest and don't even see the entertainers or... if they do, they don't stop.
I went to the Labor Outpost of Yavin IV the other day, and had a great time. The trainer is located right in the front room of the cantina, which is a medium house like every other outpost cantina. Thus, whenever a pilot comes to train or get a mission he stops there right next to us. So, one would have t be blind to miss the entertainer. Furthermore there is some traffic of people who are hunting on Yavin. So you get a little variety and some return customers. When I returned after I logged, I was dismayed to find a buffbot there... but I've come to face it, they are everywhere. Only thing you can do is out do them via personality or go somewhere else. I find depending on where the buffbot is positioned, how long they've been there and how effective their macro is... it is often quite easy to outdo them. However the surefire way to get around the problem is to entertain somewhere else for the night.
I've also spent some time in Moenia, and the traffic is decent there as well... I didn't spend enough time to see if there was a steady flow. The best thing to do is whereever you go, drag along a friend or two... get to know someone for the first time or get to know a good friend better. Traffic has it's ups and downs... it is nice to have someone to break the silence with. Furthermore, patrons are much more likely to notice a large group with effects and lots of chat, then to notice one quiet ent trying to get their attention. Especially at some of the more "aggressive chat" (Spam) outposts...
