I am a live Dancer. I get tips that range over 300,000 credits a day.
I think buffbots make me look better. I make tips only when I handle my the entertainer, not when its just running the buffing macro.
I have a jedi character and the entertaining character is my support.
Why should people watch live entertainers over buffbots when Live entertainers do the same things as buffbots?
The entertaining profession should be hard and competetive. Buffbots are the movie rentals of SWG cheap and easy to find.
I will give you advice how to beat buffbots.
First; put on a show. just don't stand there and macro and flourish over and over again. that makes you a buff bot but an ATK buffbot.
I get most of my tips from people who aren't looking for buffs. I get the biggest tips for people who finished there missions and are unwinding for the day looking for a place to relax and brag about there loot a little bit. Thats when they have the most money is right after there HAM buffs where off.
Players aren't going to tip you when all you do is talk about how bad things are with buff bots, let your clients lead the conversation. You're there for them.
Be responsible for your profession, and make it look good.

The point is entertainers should not have to compete with AFK dummies. Live entertainers should be the ONLY option in-game.
You need armor, weapons, meds, foods, droids, structures, ships, etc.? You go to the crafter, period. No workaround.
You need to heal your mind, your BF and get a buff? Go to a live entertainer. Having AFK buffbots is no better than if the devs had setup "Mind healing/buffing terminals" in the cantinas where players would just walk-up and get a free heal or buff without any interaction. i agree entertainers have to put on a good show, but you also have to remember there are many players who are powergamers and who could not care less for us, they will always go to the buffbot, even if we are nice. The buffbot option must disappear.

Buff bots are part of the game, and always will be.

Won't be my problem for much longer. I've cancelled my account. Doesn't make it right. But someday SOE will wake up to the afk/buffbot virus or the social experiement will crash and burn and entertainers will be ripped out of SWG or revamped to something like pilot and 0 skill points.

I gave you advice how to get lots of tips how to get tips, and all you people do is complain about buff bots.
