Tonight I flew out to Dant, to one of the hidden villages used by "my" Jedi. They're not guildmates but friends and alts of guildmates and I would always joke with them and call them my boys. On any given week, I was out there 2-3 times a week for at least 3 or more hours. I know it's a remote location so it's hard for them to bring in dancers, especially dancers that they could trust but what I saw tonight left me heartbroken.
I flew up to the cantina, said hello to one of my boys out front at the mission terminal. Walked inside and waited for it to load and saw on the stage "Spenc, Master Dancer, AFK" Indeed, one of the Jedi had used the alt he got from unlocking to turn into a buffbot. One of the Jedi inside saw me and greeted me with a warm "Heya Ay'la!" I turned and started to leave. "Hello and goodbye," I said "I shan't be back"
I actually felt a form of loss over this. I never went there for the money, although they were generous tippers. But I was so hurt that I had been replaced by a zombie. And not by some random cantina patrons that I buffed on maybe one or two occasions but by friends.
I probably won't end up dropping dancer...but it hurts....

You just have to understand though... *Most* of the people that have a jedi right now, are a jedi because they turned their back on the community in favor of a solo playstyle. To be able to play 100% solo you need to have good buffs, good equipment and a plethora of support characters available on demand. Almost every person I know with a mid to high level jedi has at least one if not two dedicated support characters (master musician/master doctor being the prefered zombie alt.)
They don't look at it like harming you... They only see empowering themselves. It's not about what is good for everyone, it's about what is good for them.

*big hugs* I know the feeling well. It's bad enough to have the community at large dismiss us but when our friends or guildmates join in on that ... well.. it feels like you just wasted a whole lot of time. I often wonder how they'd feel if they showed up to a popular xp grinding spot and fund us relaxing in a camp while our combat alt worked over the spawn.....
I have no sage advice for you. I can only say, you are not alone.

I can't think of anything to say, other than "I'm sorry."

I think its lame how people seem to prefer lifeless robots, over the real deal...

This bares repeating. Unfortunately that is exactly what it is for most of them. They see a single player game with friends and don't see any action that benefits them as harmful. It is the old "it's just a game" attitude. The bad part about online anonymity is that a lot of people forget there are real people with real feelings and opinions on the other side of all those toons.

I am so sorry to hear this
I understand the feeling to a smaller degree. After playing for 6 months and 3 months of that to master dancer, last night was the FIRST time I have entered a player city cantina and there was no buffbot on the center stage. I was so very excited to get to dance there to buff my guild for our hunting party! WhileElwyn and Iwere buffing them, we took the time to educate a few brand new guild members of why we are anti-bot and hopefully they will not use them anymore
It stung alotto find out that they think the buffbots are "cool"

It's horrible that this happened.
The sad thing is that not only do people think buff bots are cool, but they think that buff bots are doing live entertainers a favor, because we would never be able to keep up with demand for our services... even though for the most part doctor buffing is done ATK and that market is doing just fine.

I've had experiences similiar but not quite as bad as someone I knew doing that to me.
Myself and some of my guildmates were once invited to do buffs for a PvP event. Well, when I got there there was a buffbot. To say the least about 5 people out of everyone at the cantina at that time was willing to use the live entertainers. I left within a few minutes of getting there without buffing a single person.
Another time, at a PvP tournament, i showed up and began buffing a few people. Then a buffbot came in and set up. Just as I was about to leave a guy named Vol, leader of AXIS on Bloodfin comes in and gets all of his guildmates to use the live entertainers.
So everything isn't so bad. They aren't all idiots. Though it should be noted Vol has also been an musician (and i beleive he still has some of the skills). Anyway, that helped restore my faith in the future of being an entertainer.

I've been in your place many times. My guild on Valcyn did the same thing to me. I came into the guild to do entertainer buffs and healing but got replaced with a buffbot alt, 1 week after joining. When I saw that, it was like being slapped, kicked, and spit on all at once. The worst part was when I said I was going to drop entertainer and they asked why. I was so stunned I couldn't even respond to it. Lately I've been considering dropping entertainer/dancer/musician as a whole and picking up unarmed four and going Smuggler to augment Pistoleer. But then I meet people who respect me for being an entertainer as well as being able to shoot things.
I hate to hear that such a lovely woman like you has to be subjected to such utter and inconsiderate actions. When friends begin to treat you like this, it's only a sign of things to come. ATK entertainers are slowly thinning out, on every server. It breaks my heart to see so many talented and wonderful people like yourself pushed aside by friends and the masses. Even if the recursive macro fix comes, entertainers will still be snubbed by the combat masses.
I can only offer my apologies and hope that you can still enjoy playing your way.
/hug
