Thread: Ghosts
Ooh, entertainer revamp... Well if I could have my pick from the candy bag, I'd say these are some things I'd like to see:
-Dancer's props (no more dancing with swords unless that's your thing)
-Like others have said, actual flourishes for the exotic dances
-Actual breakdancing in the breakdance2 dance (windmills, turtles, 1990's I think they're called, etc.)
-More dancer's quests. I like the idea of dancer's being able to get info no one else can get and dancing for famous people.
Ohhh...
COUPLE DANCING!!!
Alright, this just changed to be my top item. Now if they'd pull something like that off then I'll love them forever.

The difficulty to perform a good show with several dancers pushing the current possibilities to its limits. Especially, but not only, without using third party tools (such as exchanging alias files over the internet via e-mail).
Proposal: Ghosts
I've been thinking about how group entertainment can be simplyfied without allowing one entertainer to puppet all others (as in bandflourishes). I had many ideas which turn out to be overly complicated and crap after thinking a while over it.
The basic idea: A dancer preparing a choreography may use a droid command module to record his show. Using this as a program as starship pilots do, the droid, if it is an astromech, may project a dancing stick figure, no larger than a dropped stun baton who replicates the dance. It includes all effect performed by the dancer while doing so. The current command the stick-figure is executing pops up over its head. Alternatively the droid may stand up to 20 meters away and act as prompter, telling the dancer all commands three seconds second ahead in time. The records are being called ghosts.
The reasons: The projecting mode serves to discuss and a choreography within a group, to find places to adjust and improve. The prompting mode serves to enable dancers to perform most complex choreographies with several dancers NOT doing exactly the same.
The details:
Recorded commands:
The commands "/startdance", "/stopdance", "/changedance", all eight flourish and all 15 effects are being recorded. Additonally emotes are being recorded. The purpose of the latter is to enable synchronized band "curtsey self" or "deep bow". However, changing of costumes and so on is not being recorded, neither is spatial or any other chat.
Time limits:
A ghost may cover any timespan between 10 seconds and 10 minutes.
Copying:
A ghost may be copied by any dancer who is able to perform all commands stored within the ghost script. The dancer needs an empty droid command module to do so.
Preparing a ghost:
For dancers an additional command is added to the radial menu of droid command modules. It is called: "Prepare Ghost". Once used the droid command module turns into an empty ghost and may not be used for any other purpose anymore. The default action for an inactive ghost is "record ghostscript". The default action for an active ghost is "stop recording". These actions may be triggered from the toolbar if the ghost is dragged onto it.
Once a ghost has been recorded it may not record anything more until it has been erased by using a radial menu option. The default action is "examine" then.
Storing a ghost into droids:
The ghost is stored in the same way starship pilots store their programs. To the "dancing technique" tree certifications to use droids in this manner are added, similiar to the droid certifications for starship pilots. A ghosts needs 5 units on data per started 20 seconds. Only the first ghosts in memory may be activated. The order of ghosts may be changed in its memory using the programming interface.
Activating a ghost:
Ghosts are started using programmable voice commands. There is a voice command for prompting and a voice command for displaying the stick figure. Prompting is always displayed to the droid owner, but may be started by anyone the droid accepts as friend. This way several droids may start prompting at once if the listen to the same command. Additionally a droid with a ghost in data storage has three additional radial menu options: "start/stop ghost prompting", "startd/stop ghost holo" and "pause/resume ghost"
PS: Any criticism would be welcome. Even if you think the idea is completely absurd.
PPS: Little side note: To have several different lines in a single performance it is of course very well possible to "using" one ghost while recording another.

lol ghosts? So you get sore feet so you just record you dancing and project that to bring in the already rare tips, eh? ![]()
Honestly I think one of the biggest issues as an entertainer is aside from Image Designer there really isnt any interaction going on. Most At the Keyboard Entertainers (including myself) usually have an afkmacro running in the background just without the spam and we stil lchat with the people, but thats basicly all we do is chat. We arent really doing anything interactive and productive. How to fix this? I dont know the only other rendition of music playing or dancing I have seen in a video game before is things like Donkey Congo game, Dance Dance Revolution and similar types.

Honestly, I don't think it is likely an "Entertainer Revamp" will be started in the next 4 months or so. Finishing the combat upgrade will take a while and the smugglers are in line in front of us. I don't see a point in stop gathering ideas.

I believe our greatest issue is that we have to blackmail people to watch us with all kinds of game advantage because we are hardly worth watching. Chatting with people is fine. Making a tough fight become and adventure and so on. But I am dancer first entertainer second.
