Thread: Is This Going To Be Hard On Anyone Else?

So....they decided to grant entertainers a respec. I think this is good...and bad.

I've been sitting in my chair for the last three hours, just staring at the respec screen on my main character, my beloved entertainer. The one everybody knows me as. I've had entertainer professions since I started this game. My first profession mastery was Image Designer. I just....dunno. It's hard to be faced with such a choice. I have an alt who does combat, and I have an alt who crafts....so I don't really need another combat toon. However, some of SOE's recent decisions regarding entertainers have caused me to lose a lot of faith in them regarding where we're headed.

Is this choice going to be hard for anyone else? The opportunity now exists for us to trade the professions we love, but which are of minimal use (at the moment), for something else....or the option to hold onto our britches and brace ourselves for whatever SOE has in store for us. And...as I sit here waiting, thinking and contemplating over what to do with my main character...I just have to say that I don't know. I barely play my main any more, only for parties and to hang out with friends mostly. Maybe keep dancer and take up pikeman so Ican use my NSEL again. I don't know.

Is anyone else going through this intense mental anguish right now? Or is it just me? *shrugs*

Help me out here! I need a group hug! /cry /grouphug

That choice is only yours to make, Dani. I wish you the best in whatever your decision is.

For myself, Kirah, I will remain a dancer until the day I hit the cancel button.

For me it's not hard because respec'ing my non-combat professions was never an option for me to begin with, at least not on those characters I consider my main ones. Their template is what makes them what they are, and they will stay musicians until I leave this game. Andas for the Master Tailor title I have on Bria... it's a nice crafting profession, and one of the few that hasn't turned upside down with the CU.

As for the dancer characters I have... the CU has hit me hard insofar asnow Ailara can't get Novice Dancer on Starsider (because I now have only 4 skill points left, grrr). That's a problem, I'm even considering dropping a line of Swordsbothan (currently Master) for it. Or maybe give up Ranger completely, as solo'ing is pretty much dead now anyway. And I don't want to group when hunting resources. So if anything, I'll be going the opposite direction here

I also have a Novice Dancer Wookiee (actually 0022 dancer) on Gorath, but I don't play him anymore. I might consider changing him into something else entirely, on the off-chance that I'll visit him again in the future. As it is, he's kinda redundant, because he's the exact same template as Ailara on Starsider (swords + tracking branch of ranger + rest in dancer).

But I understand your predicament, dropping something which you enjoyed and which you are attached to is hard

Maybe you should ask yourself if Dancer is still fun for you right now? If it isn't, there's no big harm in doing something else for a change, maybe that will bring back some of your enjoyment of the game. If and when they finally revamp entertainers, you can still come back and get dancing back the old-fashioned way. After all no decision is final, the respec is only a shortcut

I'd like to know if they have extended how long the respec will last now that non combat characters can use it.

Will be hard for me since I have been a dancer since launch out of beta but.....I so rarely dance its such a waste anymore esp with what little need we serve. If they make us like politicians, no points needed, then will definately work back up to master dancer. I think that would be great as then everyone can dance or play music at social gatherings etc. Lets face it most of us take entertainer take it for the roleplay aspect certainly not the credits lol.

I did think about it.

Gods know it would make my life so much easier, but then I realized I have fun being an entertainer, out of all characters on all servers I did try in past Deli'ah was always the most fun to play and the one I have always come back to.

So, after mulling it over back and fort, I've decided fudge the respec! I'm gonna stay uber level 1 and see where it takes me

Just be yourself, don't let the current situation mold you in to something you may hate.

I wrestled long and hard with the possibility of making Ava a fighter. What it boiled down to is that she's just not one. Sometimes I'd love for her to be, because her husband is a Jedi and when he's out hunting, she generally can't go along with him. But Ava is just not a fighter. She's a homebody, and for me to make her a fighter would be to change her entire personality.

I may, however, respec to armorsmith for a day or two, just to make some of the ubese shirts which I love so much.

It won't be too hard for me. I had already respec'ed from TKM to Pistoleer. But, Drygo is both an entertainer and a fighter. I have serious disadvantages due to the levels system. But, I'm not going to ruin my character over it. But, even though I know I'm not going to use the respec for my non-combat skills, I think it was very important that I, and everyone else, was given that choice because of how the CU affected everyone.

I won't be respeccing as I had already dropped TKM for Pikes before the CU and am not planning to let go of Dancer.

I had dropped all of TK to start up the dancer lines, I had enough healing to get all but one box of the 8 healing boxes. So now I can't respec to master dancer and will have to dance my way to the top. It would have been nice if they had done this from the start or if I'd had patience heh.

I have a combat alt but combat is so predictable now that what little fun it maintained is pretty much finished. I wanted to respec just the opposite of your delima and see no delima at all, entertaining with my friends is way more fun than checking the level of a mob and deciding to attack or avoid. It is also more fun than traveling all over the planet to find a mission terminal that will hand out the mission levels I need when I'm not grouped with my friends.

I considered dropping a few of the Master Dancer skills when I learned I'd have to pick up another column of combat skills in order to stay master rifles. In the end I decided I was going to keep all my dancer skills and hope that the prof revamp pull it more in line with why I originally chose to become a dancer. I spend about as much time entertainingnowas I did before the CU, maybe even slightly more. People still need healing and many people want the inspiration buff.

If it turns out the profession revamp doesn't give me the playstyle I want then I'll decide what profession I want to try. If it's not fun to level the character then it won't be fun to play it has always been my philosophy. So if I miss out on the respec it's not a big loss.

But in the end the only one who can really know what's best for you is you. But if it helps, no you aren't the only one who's struggled with the thought of letting go of the dancer profession.

Nope. Master Dancer is the foundation of my character, dropping it is not and was never an option. My whole respec was just dropping rogue to keep my requirements for TKM.

This is going to be VERY tough for me.

I have been Master Dancer since live and TKM shortly after that...I don't want to give up Dancer.

Problem for me is that with our much lower health we're not viable fighters.

IF they gave us the same health benefits then I'd never even think of dropping Dancer but I see no point in having a gimped partial combat template just so I can keep a profession I REALLY don't believe they will put back together in a meaningful way...in any reasonable time frame.

So I either;

1. Keep Master Dancer and hope they see some reason and give us the same health benefits as any elite combat prof, or

2. Respec Dancer to Pikeman to compliment TKM and get full health so I can hold my own in combat.

As it is now though every little bit of my Dancer/TKM is gimped so I rarely play that character.
