Thread: Is This Going To Be Hard On Anyone Else?
For me it's not hard because respec'ing my non-combat professions was never an option for me to begin with, at least not on those characters I consider my main ones. Their template is what makes them what they are, and they will stay musicians until I leave this game. Andas for the Master Tailor title I have on Bria... it's a nice crafting profession, and one of the few that hasn't turned upside down with the CU.
As for the dancer characters I have... the CU has hit me hard insofar asnow Ailara can't get Novice Dancer on Starsider (because I now have only 4 skill points left, grrr). That's a problem, I'm even considering dropping a line of Swordsbothan (currently Master) for it. Or maybe give up Ranger completely, as solo'ing is pretty much dead now anyway. And I don't want to group when hunting resources. So if anything, I'll be going the opposite direction here ![]()
I also have a Novice Dancer Wookiee (actually 0022 dancer) on Gorath, but I don't play him anymore. I might consider changing him into something else entirely, on the off-chance that I'll visit him again in the future. As it is, he's kinda redundant, because he's the exact same template as Ailara on Starsider (swords + tracking branch of ranger + rest in dancer).
But I understand your predicament, dropping something which you enjoyed and which you are attached to is hard ![]()
Maybe you should ask yourself if Dancer is still fun for you right now? If it isn't, there's no big harm in doing something else for a change, maybe that will bring back some of your enjoyment of the game. If and when they finally revamp entertainers, you can still come back and get dancing back the old-fashioned way. After all no decision is final, the respec is only a shortcut ![]()
I have a combat alt but combat is so predictable now that what little fun it maintained is pretty much finished. I wanted to respec just the opposite of your delima and see no delima at all, entertaining with my friends is way more fun than checking the level of a mob and deciding to attack or avoid. It is also more fun than traveling all over the planet to find a mission terminal that will hand out the mission levels I need when I'm not grouped with my friends.
I considered dropping a few of the Master Dancer skills when I learned I'd have to pick up another column of combat skills in order to stay master rifles. In the end I decided I was going to keep all my dancer skills and hope that the prof revamp pull it more in line with why I originally chose to become a dancer. I spend about as much time entertainingnowas I did before the CU, maybe even slightly more. People still need healing and many people want the inspiration buff.
If it turns out the profession revamp doesn't give me the playstyle I want then I'll decide what profession I want to try. If it's not fun to level the character then it won't be fun to play it has always been my philosophy. So if I miss out on the respec it's not a big loss.
But in the end the only one who can really know what's best for you is you. But if it helps, no you aren't the only one who's struggled with the thought of letting go of the dancer profession.
This is going to be VERY tough for me.
I have been Master Dancer since live and TKM shortly after that...I don't want to give up Dancer.
Problem for me is that with our much lower health we're not viable fighters.
IF they gave us the same health benefits then I'd never even think of dropping Dancer but I see no point in having a gimped partial combat template just so I can keep a profession I REALLY don't believe they will put back together in a meaningful way...in any reasonable time frame.
So I either;
1. Keep Master Dancer and hope they see some reason and give us the same health benefits as any elite combat prof, or
2. Respec Dancer to Pikeman to compliment TKM and get full health so I can hold my own in combat.
As it is now though every little bit of my Dancer/TKM is gimped so I rarely play that character.
