Thread: healing xp is rediculous
Shyloche wrote:As if you all didn't already know...however, allow me to put it into perspective. I respec'ed from dancer to Pikeman because I would never ever spend the time to master it and I was getting tired of being absolutely useless on hunts (now I'm just mostly useless) Anyway, I knew that it would be more fun for me to get dancer over again. I started the path back to dancer at 0021, and first I capped knowledge....still no boxes of healing. Then I capped Tech. Halfway to a box of healing. I respeced Tech to wound healing, and capped tech again. Still no healing. HOwever....I finally got enough for Fat II, and in that time, I had enough dance xp to respect tech 3 and 4 and relearn them immediately. My musician has to take the long long road though since the respec is over. Its just rediculous.
hm... I guess the question is how badly you want XP. If you danced in the cantina in Dathomir Research or in Dantooine Mos Eisley you 'd sure get some XP, especially if you macroed some spam to make people recognize you.
Question is how badly you want Master Dancer and wether dancing knowledge IV might not be enough instead of this.

This is something I've been bringing up on a regular basis since the release of CU. I know it is a wreck right now and I really feel badly for anyone who's trying to level. If you guys can provide me with numbers, I think that would help out a lot!
Well mine are anecdotal but 700 xp an hour was the one rate I managed to time, in Mos Eisley, which has to be one of the 2-3 most active cantinas on the server (the other two being Coronet and Theed of course). Presumably the greatest amount of healing is available there because it is populated by noobs. I healed and inspired, I believe, about 3-4 people, though of course it's hard to tell since you never know for sure who they are watching. I was grouped with 2 others but there were also 2 AFK macro soloists there, so I could not be sure exactly who I healed and who was maybe watching/listening to someone else. In fact it was 700 xp in more like 80 minutes, but I will give them the round off and call it 1k an hour roughly.
Even with that (and that's really double the actual rate I received), 1k an hour... you need 651,000 total healing XP to master dance (two lines in dance for 600k total, one in ent for 51k). That means 651 *hours* of game play would be required, optimistically, to master dancer. More realistically, it's probably closer to my original estimate of 1,000 hours.
But even if we go with the 600(ish) hour amount... is this reasonable? Six hundred hours of gameplay to master a profession that has almost zero impact on the game anymore? I mean even playing a fair amount, say 15(ish) hours a week, you're talking nigh unto a YEAR to master what amounts to a fluff profession. Contrast this with, say, chef, which can be ground from novice to master in about 40 hours of at-keyboard clicking.
Kinda nuts to me....

Well, this clears something up for me... I noticed I was getting healing XP while grouped with other entertainers, but not dancing, and in fact nowhere near the cantina.
I thought it might have been a bug... maybe they just felt sorry for us ![]()

My question regarding whether or not this is a bug or working as intended has not been answered. In favor of more pressing issues, such as the "too far away" bug, I've not worried much over it.
It is rather nice to be able to gain healing experience without a /watcher.
That is the good news, at least.
Since it is highly variable...
I have done now a total of about 4 hours of dancing in Mos Eisley. Some hours are obviously better than others. The total amount for the weekend of 4 hours is about 8,000 xp, or 2,000 xp an hour. That's twice as good as my original estimate, though, you also probably can't assume that the amount of XP will be the same at all hours, and it's probable that weekends represent a best case. However, I think that's a good set of numbers to start. BEST CASE... 2,000 xp per hour. That's 325 (roughly) hours to master the profession, since you need 651,000 xp. We are talking only about healing XP here, not knowledge.

They seriously need to do something about the healing XP. Just for fun I got a master musician to train me in one of the music healing boxes so I could start getting heal XP again. I think I got maybe 700 heal XP in a total of about 90 minutes in Mos Eisley, the supposed noob town where people supposedly are being wounded because they are new to the game (thus, supposedly, a place that should be rich in heal xp). Given that we need about 700,000 xp to master, that's about 1,000 hours of play to get enough healing XP to master.
Rather insane, no?

Been doing a lot of dancing lately.
On average, I seem to be getting around 2,500 healing xp per hour. I can't even imagine how much this would suck if I was trying to level right now. Just for someone such as myself, who does want xp, but only for FS, the low rate of both dance and healing experience is absolutely painful. In this situation, I can understand why people want to go afk.
Other than Jedi, would I be correct in assuming that the entertainer professions are now about 10 times as time consuming to master as any other profession? Something's wrong there.
