I bought an "entertainment" droid you know, the kind with the light show, dancing jawas and what not... Well anyway I cant turn the effects on. Everybody tells me that there should be a toggle for it on the droids radial menu but I dont see it. I gave the droid to a dancer friend and she got it to work but when she gave it back it didnt work for me. I dont know what to do... Is it a level thing? Im working on Novice Musician now do I need to reach that before I can activate the droid?

You need to be a Novice Dancer or Musican in order to use the droid.

Making SWG more Star Warsy. One droid at a time.

You have to have trained the Novice Dancer box for the option to be available.

That just seems wrong to me!

You make a droid that you can't use? Making a droid involves programming it, which you do yourself, so why can't you use it to see the mechanics of it work? I can understand that the benefits of the droid should be much less because we, the maker, wouldn't know the nuances of why and when, but being able to make and program the mechanics but we don't have the ability to use the droid just seems wrong.

There are several droid modules that we can't use. Stimpack dispenser, Merchant Barker, the entertainment ones. Weaponsmiths make lots of weapons, they can't use, Armorsmiths ditto. At least for Shipwrights it doesn't take any skill points to be a pilot.

I am not saying that it isn't this way. . . or that it shouldn't be that way, there has to be some control, but. . .

Weapons - A person who makes weapons may not have the strength and skill to wield a weapon but they know how they work. If they craft a blaster, it is because they know the mechanics of it and they better be able to pull a trigger or swing a sword. They may not be able to do so effectively, but they can definitely do so.

Armor - A person can make armor. They may not have the strength to wear it but they could concievably put it on in most cases. They would be able to use the armor though not effectively.

Droids - A person can make a droid and he knows what makes a droid tick. He definitely should have the abililty to push buttons and execute programs though they may not have the skill to use the droid effectively.

Well if it makes you feel any better, here is how I think of it. Dancers have cool specials effects that they can do without a droid, using those they "teach" the droid. Musicians simply play a song and the droid records it and plays it back. My DE doesn't have special effects and forgot how to play a song a long time ago.

Basically we set the droid up so it has the ABILITY to do those things, but that profession needs to teach it.
