Thread: One Last Respec Chance
Following the Combat Upgrade publish we allowed players with combat oriented characters to reallocate the skill sets on their characters enabling a player to switch profession templates. Some players missed the window provided in which to make these changes and we are going to re-open it one more time to allow players who had active characters before that publish to change their character’s profession template.
On June 8th, 2005 at 4:00 AM PDT all servers will be taken down so we can apply a final respec opportunity to all characters that are eligible. When logging in you will receive the following message:
Important Notice: You Can Not Change Your Character Template After This Play Session!
Your ability to adjust or respec your character template will end when you log out of this play session. Right now, you can still change your character’s profession template (“/respec”). Please be sure that you have your character template configured exactly as you want it before logging out of this play session as you will not be given another chance to change it. Once you log out of this session, your character template will be set and will not be able to be changed by Customer Service or any other intervention other than regular game play.
Thank you.
Wait, so I don't get 2 full weeks of respec ability?
Even though I only logged in for the first time 3 days ago?

Thank the Maker, I know a lot of people who will be ecstatic about this, because they felt cheated out of their last respec.
Not me, though - I knew the code and "last respec" thing would be buggy or have problems, so I didn't leave it to the last minute. I made sure I had what I wanted as soon as I could. I think I did lose some Elite points in the conversion, though - they got set back to zero. I was considering working a little Carbineer into my template, but don't know if I can now. I like Scout better I think, anyways lol.
Does this basically mean everyone can respec tonight if they so choose?
I guess I'll find out when I log in tonight. I respec'ed to what I wanted at the time. But, if I get another respec, I'm going to drop enough pistols to go up the musical knowledge line. The way I figure it, with this asinine level system, I'm always going to be gimped because I choose to play a hybrid. I probably will never solo. I haven't since the CU. I'll only be hunting in groups which will raise my combat level to 80. I may miss out a few specials, but I can weild nearly any frickin weapon I want. So, why not? Unless I'm 80, my combat level doesn't matter. So, I might as well get musician skills. Since test center I've been dying to play SW4 and Funk, and use my playback droid again. I have all these instruments I need to take out of retirement...
However, if I don't get a respec tonight that's no biggie either because I will enjoy either template.
I want to thank SOE for this last chance. It was very nice of them to do this for players!
I do dearly wish that respec could be done like once a quarter. It would add a really unique twist to SWG and certainly would keep it new for old players! We could focus on the game and its many fun aspects instead of grinding a profession.
Now, did I respec with this last chance? No. Despite the fact that I feel dancer is kinda nerfed in relation to skill points and feel the current game demands you be at combat level 80 (not possible as a master dancer) to solo a lot of areas, I did not respec. I got the game over two years ago to be a dancer/combat player mix and will continue toplay so. I am greatly looking forward to the smuggler revamp becuase when I got the gamethe real mix I wanted wasto be a dancer that secretly was a smuggler. I hold out great hopes that the smuggler revamp will allow me to do what I have longed to do for so long.
However, it still remains that it was so very nice of SOE to allow one more respec and I thank them for doing it!
