If you open your planetary map (ctrl+v) and open the tree diagramin theright pane to show the cantinas, you'll find that to the left of each cantina's name is either a moon or a sun symbol. If an entertainer has registered at that location, the symbol will bea Sun. If you leave a cantina in which you are registered, the system will automatically unregister you and you'll want to register again, upon re-entering.

This system was intended to make it easier for other players to find entertainers.

Makes it easer to find Entertainers and Doctors...

Did you know that as entertainers we can aslo register at Medical Centers?

I do it alot of the time because on my server doctors are hard to find and people tend to have to sit around Med centers to get thier wounds healed. You can heal their BF while they are waiting for the Med center to heak their wounds, and keep them company.

Oh, no this is not a NOOB question! Its an important play point!

Just as already stated it makes the location you are dancing at show up on the planetary map as occupied. Part of the problem is a lot of players don't know what those suns and moons mean. Which mean we should help explain them when asked.

If you are at a player city those little suns can be how you attract customers. I have had a lot of customers over time tell me that the registration was how they found me. The other important thing is to make sure your dancing title is displayed so that when they do a search for people based on profession that you will display in their search results.

Definitely not a noob question!
I've been a dancer for over a year and only recently found out exactly how the register thing works. Some time ago I had heard it was broken so never even paid much attention to it.

Yep, it used to be that if you registerd at a location and then left it still showed as having an ent at that location.. I think it lasted till server reste or something like that

Well it was broken in the past in several ways that made it almost non-functional.

1. /register did not work in hotels or some theaters. This meant that about half the venues could have perfomers in them, but not show it.

2. /register did not work in "outpost" cantinas like the ones on Endor.

3. Somehow (not sure the mechanism) player cantinas could effectively be permanently left "registered" even when completely empty. I never owned a cantina before last week so I am not sure how this was done, but basically it meant that half the cantinas on most planet looked registered but were empty -- making it totally useless in terms of information.

Those 3 things conspired to make /register meaningless... so the old players stopped using it and new players never learned to, and it kind of atrophied.

It actually works correctly now as far as I know, everywhere it is supposed to, only when it is supposed to, but it has fallen so into disuse that I think I may be the only person left who bothers to register on my server.
