oops! hit enter too soon...
with afk buff bots leaving, atk ents will be a pretty hot commodity. all you starving ents, this is the time to cash in. BUT i don't plan on changing what i*charge* if someone asks me "how much for a buff?" 7k for one or the other and 10k for the full set (since they'll need double the time of watching i give a discount). until the profession is replenished we'll be the premium and be able to ask for some pretty astronomical prices if we felt so inclined, don't you think? but lets not abuse this opportunity, we don't want the anti-ent rallying cry to change from whiners to exploiters, cuz we're going to have a lot of power to basically extort the combat professions if we wanted to. a little greed is good, but if we try to dip too far into our audiences wallet we'll be in the same no money predicament again, nobody is going to want to use our services if we let things get out of hand and prices skyrocket.
oh god, i'm babbling... if anyone can make sense out of what i just said, please give me your thoughts,

I will let the patrons decide. I'd be happy to have a clean dance floor and nice customers.

i'm usually cool with what the patrons decide, they ask if i'm buffing, i say yes, they tip, i dance or play music. but when someone comes straight out and asks you "how much for a buff?" what will you tell them? i'm not directing this question at you nvoigt, i'm directing it at the entertainer community.

I'll do the same as I do in the ID tent. I say 'Whatever you're comfy with dear.'
I found that when I use a set fee its too much for some people and to other people its pocket change.
The general and average price for stats in Theed is around 10k. I've gotten as little as a couple hundred cr for stats but I've also gotten as much as 400k. Over a 2 days period when I kept track of it out of curiosity I found I was averaging just a tad over 22k for stats.
I do make an effort to try and amuse the customers while they are waiting, engage them in conversation, be nice to them and that undoubtedly helps. But I've found that the majority of people are pleasant and generous if treated well.
I've seen some other newer IDs in the tent who are nice to people and I explained the system to them. Most of the ones that tried it found it worked just as well for them.
But thats just my opinion and is valid ONLY for me. I'm not even remotely suggesting that it will work for anyone else so PLEASE don't bother telling me I'm wrong and mistaken and all that.

2k per stat is the rate at which the price of doctor buffs have settled on the server where I most frequently play. I think we should keep in mind that many players who depend on mind buffs are used to getting them for free and will consider their cost for doctor buffs to have set a value on what they may be willing to pay for any enhancement.
I usually don't have a set price and I don't think this will change how I negotiate the value of my services. (yes..I make plenty without a set price..1/4 mil crfrom onecontract during anight last week..not bad for 3 hours of fun)
While some may feel this is their big chance to "cash in", I think this is our opportunity to establish ourselves as a component of the player-based economy in a way that will contribute to game balance and keep us in business for a long time while minimizing the non-entertainer backlash.
We can make this great for us in the long-run..or we can kick our own butts now. The choice is clearly ours'.

I'm not planning on doing any price-gouging either, nor will I recommend it. Although I am starting to come around to the thinking of the fixed-price camp rather than the 'tip what you think is fair'. Yes, I've seen some much higher tips at times by doing it that way, but in the last month or so it's been more on the stiffing side of things. I think that now is the time to set in that yes, entertainer buffs aresomething ofvalue - but that doesn't mean we need to price gouge.
"Standard" dance or music buff pricingon Ahazi have been 5k for some time now. Perhaps I'll charge that, or perhaps I'll charge "3k plus tips", and leave it partially set price to establish value, and partially flexible based on my performance, charisma, and the depth of thecustomer's pockets.
That said,my memory is long for thosewho have treated entertainers verypoorly in the pastthough. You'd better believe that I'm considering showing these individuals the errors of their ways. What goes around, comes around? I may not be able to resist.

Before buffbots, I told them to tip whatever they want. I think I'm going to start charging 8k in advance. It's just too much trouble keeping track of the deadbeats.
As for gouging, this will not happen, ideally. I was in a line at the dantooine mining outpost, andmy doc was charging 12k for a set. Another doctor came in and started yelling he was charging 10k. He noticed her line wasn't shrinking, so started yelling his sets were only 8k. It's all supply and demand.

Does this allow for a few jerks? Sure. But I generally say "But do pay something" for a buff in order to minimize them, unlike a normal dance where that would be bad taste.

Deadbeats? Yea there are a few but in my experience, not as many as you would think. I also tend to take a longer term view. A lot of the people that dont have much money for whom I do ID work remember that.
The other day I did some ID work for someone for almost nothing. The next day she tracked me down and paid me several times what it was worth.
I also have people coming back for more work and waiting for me when others were free because they remember me taking the time to work with them for only a little. In the long run I've found that the approachI take pays great dividends. I often joke with some customers who arent very well off at the time and say.. 'Remember me when you get rich.' Most of them do.
When I do work for someone, whether its ID or Dance I always look on it as a potential long term relationship. Not all of them turn out to be. But enough do thatwhen I used to dance regularly, as I plan to do again soon, I always knew most of my customers well because I saw them every day. They saw Me as someone with whom they had a relationship as well.
Not just.. Okay.. Next?
But again. Thats just me.

I'm not about to change how I play and what I do simply because the buffbots are gone. That includes providing buffs and what I ask for them.
