Let me start off by saying that I have never been rude or disrespectful to dancers or musicians however, as a tkm/doc, my use for them has always been minimal. Ive been playing the game for over 6 months and have never been interested in mind buffs either because I have always done alright without them.
Last week, someone got me to try the mind buff for the first time and I found out it helps a lot, so Ive been back a few times since then. A few days later, I tried the new FS combat quest and found it to be near impossible and decided that this game/chasing jedi just is not worth it. While down on my luck and complaining in the cantina, I was befriended by two dancers, who suggested that I join them.
I was too angry to overly care about the game anymore so I figured I would kill some time with them and went and got my novice ent. box...
Well, that was three days ago and the only thing I have been doing in the game since then is dancing. I am not even getting any xp for it considering I do not have any points left and havent decided to drop my combat or doc prof (yet). Dancing brought a new life to the game for me. The social interactions and flirting is a lot of fun. This is an amazing aspect of the game that I never realized existed. I am not sure if I want to give up my template to pursue this yet, but for now, I am having a lot of fun. Its amazing how someone could play this game for over 6 months and completely miss this wonderful part of it. I feel like I am playing a bran new game!
The other entertainers have been very friendly and supportive to me, which is something you rarely find in many of the other profs in the game. My eyes have been opened!
I am not sure where I am going to go with this, but I am enjoying the path it is taking me....

Welcome to my surprise. I grabbed musician just to play a little music for a friend starting dance. I was hooked immediately. I'm now master entertainer/master musician/master rifleman and dropped master CH. My friend is now master ID and master tailor so we don't perform together which I miss but I still have my best times with a group of good friends enteraining just to entertain.
Just do what you like, if staying at your current level just so you can relax and join in during needed breaks is best then do that. If you feel you want to climb the skill tree then do it slowly and see what you start missing from the other profs as you drop skills there. Don't do it all at once and then regret it because that will just sour you both ways.

That's wonderful to hear. I've been messing around with dancing since the game came out, and finally mastered it last spring (my other profession is tailor), and I must say that I do enjoy just socializing in game as a dancer. There are nights when I'm pooped from dealing with customers as a tailor and I just want to go to the cantina and hang out with people fora bit, talking, flirting, joking.
One thing I will say for this game: For all its many shortcomings, they've put in a viable non combat dimension. That's something no other online game I know of has achieved (UO was the only other one to come even close). One consequence of this is that I feel like my character in SWG is a more fully realized alter ego than any character I've created in a game more solely focused on combat (and I've played lots of those). It will be hard, hard, hard to part company with her when the time comes, as it surely will.
That's part of why I'm so distressed to see them dropping the ball on dancer by first giving us no new content, and then broken content when they finally did something. They've left the best, most original and unique aspects of the game on hold since release, and people who appreciate those sides of the game are getting more than sick and tired of being neglected and taken for granted in favor of combat and jedi.

Don't drop your template...
Create a dancer or musician on Bria. If you do this be sure to /join ent...This is the entertainer channel on the server. I'm sure there are other servers with great entertainers and entertainer channels, but I know first hand, this channel will enable you to find a group of entertainer players. I also know first hand, this server has some fantastic performers.

Bria is certainly a great place for liveents. If you've never experienced a Cantain Crawl, you've missed quite an exciting time! Chilastra is also a good choice and the entertainer base there is getting strong again. I understand that Starsider and Kettlemoor (sp) are good ent/rpservers too. I can assure youthat if you roll an entertainer on Bria or Chilastra you will have fun!

I appreciate the feedback and support, but I have to stay on kettemoor. Ive been here too long and have too many friends. Leaving the server would be like leaving the game therefore, only one character for me.

Can't resist one last thought to give you...
You can send cross server tells...So if you wanted to say hi to me tonight on bria, you would type /tell bria.gedlee heya, so in a way, you may be on a different server, but you can still chat with your friends.

Bria entertainers are such glactic whores.
Always wantin' everyone to join in their little server love fest. Keep your grubby little paws away from the Kettemoorians!
What they really want are extra bodies to act as a buffer to the 1337 kiddies and their non-sensical babble...

What he said.
Hehe...seriously, though. Kettemoor has a lot of entertainers, which is a good thing. But, yeah, I do go to Bria for the crawls. They're just too fun to pass up. But, other than that, I'm usually on Kettemoor. The l337 kiddies are everywhere, including Kett, and we can't sacrifice our real ents.
