I just remastered Dancer the other day. yay.
Even though I came back to it because I did miss the fun it provided, I am left wondering if it was worth the time and trouble. As I said in a thread on my server board, the only changes I can see that have happened to our profession since I started dancing in beta is mind buffing, one article of dancer specific clothing and a broken dance (the reason for it being broken is moot. Broken is broken,) Also, our lives have been *enhanced* by the presence of hologrinders (which still exist, although a little blue box isn't telling them what to do....It's an old man that instigates the process), buffbots and general overall player apathy toward our professions.
I'm tired. Tired of the apathy (you're just a timesink). Tired of the lack of attention. (......) Tired of hearing the same old lines. (After JTL. After Combat Upgrade/Balance/Revamp,) Tired of trying hard to promote my profession in the face of these things and seeing the numbers slowly melt away.

I'm not the rah-rah type mind you, however - I still love this profession! I've been dancing for a year now. I enjoy the interaction with other entertainers and patrons. I enjoy meeting people (especially newbs) andgetting togetherwith myfriends. I enjoy dancing for hours in the same spot to the utter amazement of repeat patrons! I don't let the hologrinders get me down. I scoff at the buffbots in spatial (in a fun way - negativity tends to turn patrons away). And I enjoy acting out the part of a dancer (both of my main characters) who isn't a trollop, doesn't flirt with strangers and never AFKs.
The only thing that does get me down is how deserted our city cantina is (there are two) - the only people there anymore are other entertainers. No one from the city or the guilds come in for buffs or heals or just to talk anymore.
Instead of contacting us to see if we would be interested in taking over the duties of running the main cantina when it's owner disappeared from the game, the mayor planted a new cantina. Whether she remastered dancer to do it or gave it to someone else (it's always been an AFK mecca) is anyone's guess. She knows our stand on AFKing so I guess it really shouldn't surprise me much . . . So, I pulled up my house and cancelled my residency. I figured, if the city isn't willing to support us, why support it. Roho is still a resident and the cantina is placed on his lots anyway so my little act of defiance seems to have gone unnoticed. *rollseyes*
None the less - I still love entertaining! I may end up being one of the last live diehards who is still kicking in the cantinas, but I'm not willing to give up anytime soon. Don't be discouraged . . . we need each other. Entertainers know how to make their own fun regardless of what the game does or doesn't throw at us.

To me I think it's still worth it and I'm not the rah rah type either. My very first toon which got deleted (story for another day) was a Master Dancer and it was always something I enjoyed alot. I enjoyed it enough to re-master it on another toon.
My background from other games and this one when I started was one of grind, grind, grind, kill, kill, kill but starting dance and making some friends the first time put an end to that for me. Even with all the stuff that needs to be fixed and all the other junk going on it is still the most enjoyable profession to me because of the friends I spend time with doing it.
This last week and weekend I pulled out my Doc/Rifleman to help with the phase 3 Jedi quest as I have a couple friends doing that and they got me started on the route to become glowy which I am now. I did 3 theme parks and visited countless POI's on Saturday and was ready to kill someone by the end of it.
I had to come back and log on my Dancer and dance with my partner to get relaxed and enjoy the game. In all the other games I've done and professions I've tried this is still the only thing like this to me.
I told my dance partner last night that if doing FS stuff interferes with our time together than I am not going to do it because it is simply more important and enjoyable to spend time with her dancing.
No matter how many things are broken with Dance or need to be changed my time with her dancing is still a wonderful experience and one I will not give up. It offers me something that no amount of fixes or changes to the game ever could or will.

I am the rah-rah type.
I am still a baby musician/dancer (my musician is at 0020, and my dancer at novice) and every minute I've spent leveling has been worth it. I'm still grinning from an absolutely FABULOUS weekend.
Friday night staying up till all hours with the Brians in the Theed cantina, Sat. attending the starport jam, then jumping over to Wanderhome where some friends took my Master Image Designer through the corvette LOL. She now has a total of two badges - Master Image Designer and Jabba's corvette rescue mission. After we were done with the corvette I healed everyone up with my wondrous rendition of SW2 (Corvette is nice healing xp!!), didn't stop playing until 7am lol. Sunday jumped back on Bria and hung out in Bestine with some new and some new/old players trying to pass on a little of what all the amazing entertainers have taught me. The new ent we were helping had this to say about the game when s/he logged out: "Wow, this is a pretty cool game." After s/he logged out one of the new/old players said "She has no idea." Considering all the player had seen was the inside of a single cantina, and knowing all the other things this game has to offer, I have to agree.
If you feel that the game isn't worth it anymore the best thing to do is take a break. You may find something you enjoy more, or you may come back refreshed. The longer you stay unhappy/unsatisfied the harder it becomes to get back to being happy/satisfied again. And of course the main emphaisis of the game is to have fun, to enjoy yourself. If you are not having fun you should not feel compelled to stay. I have a few friends who have left the game and we have been keeping in touch. Leaving does not mean you have to loose them.
Anyway, that's my happy-go-lucky for the morning! Have a great day all Ents, thank you for the wonderful weekend!

I am often surprised to find a lot of entertainers who haven't done anything else. The SWG universe is amazingly big and the cantina's all look so much alike. Find a friend and go POI running. If you have a fighter friend you are interested in its a great date experience. Get out and see the rest of the game it puts a fresh perspective on everything. Look at through someone else's eyes. I know when I took my partner out to get POI badges the first time I was amazed at what she saw that I had never noticed because I was always zooming to the next mission.
Live entertainers still offer a lot to the game. There is a huge population and a small percentage of them are jerks. The rest either already know our value or just need to be shown our value. I'm winning converts every day in Theed. People are actually getting tired of the AFK sea. A friend of mine is now working on Coronet and she is making some progress also! That reminds me I've got to get down there and show her the support she deserves

New flourishes
Effects droids
Better buffs (Buffing was there all the time but it used to be small, short and untargetted)
Player owned cantinas
New dance (It works fine for me. I can start it, and I can flourish, and as long as I'm flourishing, people see me dancing.)
It's not much, but more is coming. We're just starting to see the beginning of changes. And it is more than some professions have gotten.
