Thread: State of the Dancer Profession 10-31-03
Nicely done Ravenmist.
The only problem I see is the fact that the class as a whole is split on the afk issue, but it is being presented from the side of those opposing afk entertainers. If you intend to include information reguarding the problem, I think you should also include information regarding why people do it, and why they support it. In other words, give both sides fair representation.
Otherwise, I agree especially with the content problem. So you've made master dancer... ok, what now?It would be nice to see something more for us.
Personally, I would LOVE to see some expansion of the existing missions. ie - being able to work your way up as a reputable dancer so as to be assigned parties for famous people like the Queen of Naboo, high ranking members of the Empire, etc. That would just be super cool! ![]()
Also, thanks for the effort you are donating on our behalves!
Sultrina,
If you take a look at how Melee and Ranged defense works you will find that a +7 doesnt amount to a hill of beans... That's only a 3.5% addition to the chance to miss at _master_ level. If you notice all the melee and even the rifle classes were given HUGE increases to their original defenses due to them being grossly underpowered. This should happen for the dancer class as well. And adding an additional 'dodge' ability would be entirely appropriate.
I would love to see that request go WAY above the AFK stuff...
+7/+7 is nearly what what you get for gaining a block of TKA +10/+10 in a lo of cases. What more should we get? I mena this is for dancing, you never have to set foot outside a cantina. If you take up TKA along with it your allways nearly a block ahead on your defence. I think thats more then fair .
this is for dancing, you never have to set foot outside a cantina.
Unless you're a battle dancer!! ![]()
Seriously, though... with all of the grace and finess a master dancer *should* have, I agree that we should have a better chance to avoid getting hit. I enjoy going out with raiding parties and helpling with the fight, then entertaining the crowd during downtime. If I take too much damage the medics take my guns away... ![]()
Sultrina,
I have no idea why you would debate this issue… Three and a half percent is not a generous bonus. Let me run through this…
You can’t buff yourself.
You only buff one attribute.
It takes 10 minutes to apply your buffs.
You can’t tell when you have finished a buff.
So you can’t make a lot of money.
It takes an investment _106_ points to get Master of this skill.
But you can beat me in a duel 3 more times out of one-hundred… O_o
All this means that it compliments NOTHING of yours. It only looks cool and helps your buddies (or in this case _me_ since my wife is the actual dancer). The return on skill point investment is just not there. The only time that ‘dancer’ is _practical_ is on a buff bot. *note* the emphasis on ‘practical’ excludes those that just like the cantina life and the play style which is perfectly cool but c’mon… you are getting short changed… ask for something that really makes Dancing stand out.
Look at it this way… You spent the same amount as a Master Creature handler… Is the ROI (return on investment) even? Don’t settle for that measly +7… as I said earlier… ALL the ranged and melee defenses in other professions got a big bump except YOURS. Go ask for your just deserves.
Btw… Let’s just play the ‘what if’ game for a second…
What if you combined TK with DR?
You could migrate all your stats into Mind Focus Willpower and make the rest HUGE with your own buffs… (talk about spamming specials)
You could sell your buffs at any remote OP for 7K a pop and have a never ending line (see it all the time).
You could heal your buffed self into perfect condition in one shot during a fight.
You could fix your battle fatigue at any local cantina without having to tip because the entertainers just can’t make you…
Once again… I know a lot of people out there are dancers because the Devs did such a great job on the look and feel, and the roll is a unique one to play BUT… that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask for it to be practical as well. The only upside I see to the class is that you can master it in less than 2 weeks while completely unattended and getting rid of that seems to be the primary theme to many of these conversations.
Ask for the bump… your class deserves it…
