I don't have to be polite, or hunt all over the galaxy for the mysterious roving weaponsmiths vendor. Its a constant....and it doesnt act like a primadonna. And its logged on 23 hours a day...

Also...On this note....

In my time on the game I have seen 6 "best" weapon smiths come and go....I have also spent countless hours searching for the "best" weapons atm on my server....Not to mention many of my weapons need to be hand crafted...So I do indeed have to "search" out these people and be nice to them.

Then again, I do not even carry a non-krayt/non-loot enhanced weaponon me....When you reach the "real" "end level" of game play (which is hardly "end game, but anyway) you will find that nearly everything you want or do is going to *require* you too find crafting classes to finish.

So be nice to that weapon smith now

haha,...for my custom work i'm incredibly polite...and gracious...

The dev team would never allow any kind of imbalance so that one group of people would "cut swaths" through crowds of people.

Don't you have your own private "bot" anyway?

My alt is kept for personal and guildie use. its a shared account...controlled by two players, and never on while we are not on...nor is it running a buff macro... We have to alt-tab over to it to use it. However, my macros for buffing are a recursive macro, - so that I can tab over, start my buff, and tab back to my main...and continue any conversations or socializations I was occupied with before buffing.

You shouldn't be affected by this change anyway, right? If it gets rid of the "bots" in the cantina or the afk "zombies". The ability to macro isn't being removed...just hopefully the aforementioned bots and zombies.

So why the big uproar...you still shouldn't have to be polite to anyone anyways...robbing us of your scintillating and witty banter, I know..thats what you are worried about.

Unless that above statement is a falsity. *small smile*

On another note, no one has answered my question...well not you big strong combat types that is. What on earth did you do before the almighty mind buff? Did you just not hunt?

I know I hunt just fine without a mind buff...in fact, I don't think I have gotten one ever.

Anyways...justsome observations from a tiny little lady.

You can't play SW:G on an Apple.

Actually I play on a Mac monitor, left over from my old G3. The colors on it are so much brighter than any of the PC monitors we have. My husband hates it - too big, too ugly. Has anyone seen The Dark Crystal? Well, my monitor looks like a big blue Garthem, legs and everything. When I first got it we were scared it was going to crawl across the desk and eat the other computers. It is almost the color of my sig. Except brighter and more glowy. Ahhh... I love it.

And why is this? Perhaps because the supply, provided free of charge, creates no financial viablity? If not, what has caused there to be so few entertainers? And don't tell me it's "boring." A doctor sitting in front of the starport has identical gameplay, and there is no shortage of doctors. I have seen, first hand, new players drop the professions when they learn they will never make any money.

Thoseafk bots aren't gonna be played if macro nerf goes in, they'll be cancelled accounts. AFKers hurt entertainers in no way before.

Yes they have. I know people, personally, who quit the game because the cantina had been turned into a zoo, a very unpleasant place. People complain about having to go in there for five minutes. Imagine spending the whole day in there.

People alwasy listen to non afkers if they are there.

They will not. Here's an example, before the rise of buffbots. I was in dant mining outpost, and the main entertainer group had an afk leader. So I just went in a corner, and started buffing solo. People went to get the buffs, not really caring about the novices needing the healing experience. FInally, one guy asked if he could quit the main group and join me. Sure, I told him. Eventually everybody left the afk group leader, and joined with me. The same thing happens today, only it's a buffbot. And the buffbot won't group with the novices, but they stand there devaluning the market price for buffs, while screwing the novices of their experience at the same time.

I've stood next to buffbots with Master Dancers, and seen people avoid us for the bot, evemn though we can buff faster. The bots don't care if you stiff them.

If this about tips and cash, you went into the wrong proffession if you became and entertainer to make money. I got a master dancer on my account that has never been afk'd btw.

In the real world, entertainers are rich and famous. A long time ago, in a galaxy far far away, they're panhandlers. Why should anyone pick a profession that will make them poor? What's the point in investing valuable skillpoints? A NOVICE scout should not be more financially viable than two ELITE professions, combined.

AFKers have done incredible damage to the entertainment professions. I contend they've damaged other professions as well, though it isn't as obvious.

There might not be enough live entertainers right now but that will change as things always do when there's an unfulfiled demand.

If that were true about people listening to non-AFK's then all it would take is one ATK entertainer walking into any of the major cantinas to practically zero out the healing xp for all the AFK'ers. Also the ATK player would get healing xp much faster due to all the attention. Odd how that just doesn't happen though.

A good example of this is Coronet on Chimaera. I went into the cantina after being asked to buff someone and the place is quite a sight now. The front entry room now is where 90% of all the ent's dance (mostly AFK'ers but there's so many it's hard to see AFK tags), it's filled with foam and effects from at least 2 droids most of the time. Walk into the main room however and there's around 5 or 6 entertainers, a couple AFK but most of those are ATK players. How many clients go into that room instead of staying in the cramped front room with all the spam? Not many, should of been all of them if people always went to the non-AFK's.

"Buff bots completely eliminate the enjoyment of the game for a whole class of players. They discourage those players from playing. Make people not want to log in at all. Thus, they are bad."

I have played a dancer since this game came out. I have never gone afk. I play it because i enjoy it just as much as playing my swordsman or playing my doc back when doctors and CMs actually were used for healing and not poisons/buffs all the time. I have watched the combat professions be trained by doctors to form lines *laughs*. Its not about the money for me when it comes to afk ents. Its the fact the we are treated like crap by most. Not all but most. In my experiance i would rather be not tipped at all then tipped 15 credits off some guy sporting composite armor and a flamethrower. thats like leaving a shiney penny for a tipin the food industry. How i feel used everytime i buff someone and they just come up to me and say "invite" and leave or dont even ask me they just ask to be invited into the entertainer grp. I remind them i only invite people to my grp for buffs if there are more than one person asking and im not a buffbot. which they dont respond to of course usually.

Buffbots ruined this profession.

sorry for the cut and paste to quote lol

almost every time i log in and decide to dance i have this happen. "Invite to martie" will usually be met with a response along the lines of "please ask martie herself if you'd like a buff" i am not a bot, but often times i feel as if i might as well be. i've also had occasions recently where the buffbots are tyed up by hijackers.. folks come in and hollar "invite to buff group" while standing in the front door.. i'll announce that i'm live in the main room, giving buffs.. have been overlooked many times by people, and even a spam in caps lock doesn't make any difference when people are hell bent on grouping with the bots.

For the people that ask to be invited to the ent group for a buff without actually asking for a buff.. Just invite them, then when it becomes clear they are just trying to get a buff, kick em. Oops! Was that a 20 minute buff that will wear off right when you need it and can't be re-buffed until then?

Part of this, particularly on dant on my server, is people who just want to group to get 'grouped' missions; they'll randomly group with whoever is available, then use that to get the bigger missions (which they can solo because of buffs and composites).

I've also heard of combat players never leaving the group once buffed and running to another planet before you can kick them; apparently there is a bug that once they are out of range you can't kick them from the group (even through the 'group listing' on the screen).

Yet another fine example of (ab)using the things in the system the way they weren't meant to be used.

I think this is why alot of people say they can't find a live entertainer to buff.So many times i've gotten what you describe here. Standing in the door of the cantina shouting for 30 seconds then runnig off to the forums to complain that theres no live entertainers around does not constitute "looking for a buff" to me.

When i'm in theed i give a shout every 5 minutes or so that says "get a buff from a live dancer, just come to the cantina and ask me for a buff" Many do, but many more can be standing there 3 feet away asking to get invited to a buff group and either are oblivious to my existance or don't want to have to ask me to buff them. All it takes is to stand in front of me and say can i have a buff please, or even send a tell. That seems to be to much to ask for some though.

I've done a bit of experimenting in Theed on Naritus over the last couple nights.

I went to the Cantina, turned on my Master Dancer flag, and just hung out quietly.

On the first night, a bunch of people stopped at the front door of the cantina to use the buff bot. But her Music was broken and not working. So they stood around and complained, but never came inside to see the live dancers there.

I stuck with the Master Dancer thing for about 15 minutes and didn't receive a single /tell or spatial request for anything. So I switched on my Master Image Designer title and inside of 2 minutes someone asked me to alter his appearance. I spent a good 15 minutes with that person, tweaking and twinking, and left him happy.

Switched my Master Dancer title back on... another 15 minutes with nothing.

Back to Master Image Designer and almost immediately another request for an ID session.

Did this bouncing back and forth for at least an hour each night. All told I did zero dancer sessions and 4 Image Designs.

Yeah, demand for entertainers is down. Last time I did this exercise (which was admittedly a while ago), I was barraged by inquiries for buffs.

Note: none of the ID sessions was for stat migration. They were all for looks only.
