Thread: Intergalactic Dancer Directory (All Levels)
Oh well!
Flurry.Doriana
I have to agree about the "Master Dancer" thing, even though I am a master dancer. At present, there is nothing we masters have to offer the player base that they can't get from a novice entertainer other than some additional dances to watch. Using the faster buff time as a reason doesn't really work, because then we'd need to change this list to those dancers who are also master musicians and/or have clothing that offers the 25% bonus. I have neither.
Having a list of dancers is a great idea. But limiting it to Masters only when the title currently hold little if anything more than prestige could easily make it appear as though all we want is to see our names in lights (so to speak).
Perhaps we can rethink this list a bit? Yes, it would be a lot of work to maintain it with all dancer levels, but to leave the other dancers out when they offer as much to the patons as Masters just dosn't seem right to me.
I guess we have to ask ourselves, what is the purpose of the list? If it is simply to give recognition, then probably we could include all dancers. If this is supposed to be a directory to call on Dancers who have *all* of the abilities (that means exotic3 and 4, as well as lyrical2) for performances, videos, whatever, then it should just be masters. Game mechanics shouldn't be the only criteria. If this is supposed to be a "contact" list of sorts for things that someone else might need, then what someone else mentioned above..ie, putting up the level of dancing might be a good idea.
I mean, I understand why people might feel left out. But, if you plan to include every dancer that comes and goes from now into infinity, this list is going to become completely unmanageable and not worth the effort. Besides, I really do think it means something to be a master dancer, to not have given up the skill points. I mean, really, there are other things I could do if I dropped all but my knowledge line. But, I kept all those skill points at the sacrifice of other skills, and I did it for a purpose. And, that was to be the best dancer, game mechanic or otherwise, that I wanted to be. And, I don't understand why there is a problem with giving the recognition to those people who are making that sacrifice.
The last time we had this list, I dropped Master Dancer, and asked Panthu to take me off the list. And, I would do it again if I dropped it. If we want to have a list that has all dancers, that's fine, I'm not going to oppose it. But, the truth is, yes, it *does* matter that you have made the sacrifice to forego other skills so that you can keep all the bells and whistles (how few they may be) of being a Master Dancer and having as many performance options as possible. Obviously, I'm *not* a Master Dancer so I can be on this list. But, I am a Master Dancer, and have made sacrifices to become one. That's worth a little extra recognition.
Perhaps a dancer list, with an asterisk or some signifier next to the masters?

I was a master dancer for almost two years. Currently, there is not enough to warrant me spending these skill points just to have a couple of extra dances. If that means I'm not 'worthy' of being on this list, then I'm not sure I want any part of it to begin with.
I'm done here. Didn't mean to hijack, just wanted to make my feelings on this sort of thing known. It is exclusive and I dislike the concept.
Well, Fuschia, all I can really say is that I do believe that people have made a sacrifice by retention of those skill points. And, in an environment where we are seen as worthless, that says a lot about commitment to me.
Having said that, if the list ends up being a list of every single dancer, I'm not going to be upset about it, obviously.
