Question from a Holo-dancer: Would you recommend going up the Wound Healing tree first, the Fatigue Healing tree first or both about equally?

My apologies for passing through your profession, I'll try and kick up as little dust along the way as possible...

It doesn't really matter. Most people get fatigue healing because battle fatigue takes longer to heal. Do whichever you feel like. ^_^

Depends on what your basing your Healing XP on more.

People coming into the Cantina and watching? Doesn't matter get both.

Combat Medic diseasing/ poisoning? Go with wound first.

Radioactive sampling? Go with fatigue.

Do the effects out of the Dancing Techniques tree add anything to experience, and if so, do these effects stack on top of the '1 flourish per tick', or just replace them?

If adding dancing effects helps, that will help those of us just trying to get through it to getout of you real performers' way faster.

So much hatred for AFKers.

First of all, we all need to sleep...and eat...and go to work or school. Second of all, not all of us want to have to play for an extended period of time to master a single profession. It's rediculous to condemn people for AFK macroing. It's perfectly fair to people that have things to do in thier lives and can't sit on their computer all day, but who also don't want to pay Sony cash any longer than they have to to get a sense of accomplishment from the game.

Youcan bet thatI'm not gonna keep paying for a drawn out boring grind, though there's a lot of other customers who will (EQ, what? ). I'm going to do what I can toachievesomethingand make the game feel likeit's worth continued playing, not just a second job where someone else is getting paid. So far, SWG has been really good in this sense.

Wow...this is wrong in so many, many ways.

1) Yep, we all DO have to eat, sleep, go to work/school/church/dates. And you know what we do? We log out, and play when we have time to. This is a game, something you play. If you want something to run while you're away and feel results, you can always download SETI at Home. Maybe you'll find aliens one day!

2) You sound like a full time Dancer. If you have to macro to feel a sense of accomplishment, you're in the wrong profession. A Dancer/Musician/Entertainer is something you do to have fun, to entertain (yes, Entertainers can entertain. Listen to/watch one who's just smacking a flourish key or two in no particular order, then listen to one who hits them in a coordinated order to sound good together. Big difference.)

3) You're a whole different animal than holo-monkeys (as some have so sweetly called them ). I feel for the holo-monkeys. I, for one, will NEVER play a Jedi, not because I'd not like to, but because of the retarded system. I'm not going to grind for hours and hours to either find a holo or get the creds together to buy one, then go do something I totally have NO interest in doing, just to be a Jedi who isn't going to be that great in a group anyhow...("Hey, guys, I'd LOVE to help ya, but see him over there?*points* If I whip out any good combat stuff, he's gonna kill me, so you guys have to handle this one on your own. Sorry.") You, on the other hand, are one who seems to me to be one who doesn't feel a sense of accomplishment in gaining that next box, but only see that there is only ONE important box....the last one. Screw finding the new flourish combinations that look good with the new dance or sound good with the new song. Nope, I just wanna be the best, without work.

The sad thing is, you aren't going to be happy as a Master, either. I suggest you quit now, and save yourself the money. You've already paid too much for something you hate so much. I don't care how long you macro, you won't like it.

And for anyone who's questioning my sudden appearance on the boards, I have played entertainers many times, dancing and music (I prefer music, but I'm going to be starting on the Entertainer path by choice for Master Dancer and Musician soon) and left because of AFKers like the above quoted poster.

I just wanted to say thanks for all your help in getting me up through Master Dancer.I'm a Holo Monkey, or Holo Slave, or whatever other name you've come up with this week. I'm just trying to learn a little bit about the profession, so I get through it, and get out of your forums as quickly and quietly as possible.

You know, at first I couldn't see why anyone would pay $15 a month to sit in a cantina and dance, but now that I've been doing it, I can very much understand why. I've met some of the coolest, most sociable people in the cantina, who all get their jollies off of doing just this as a career. Good for them! At this time, I'm glad the whole system is going to be changed, to allow for people who've already found a career they want to keep, and still try out the Jedi profession.

I'm sorry that I'm automatically hated forzooming through the career that tookyou so much time and work to get to whereyou are. But please understand that we're working hard to get to the top of a career we want as well. Ours takes us through yours (and a few others), and again, you guys have been really helpful to us in that regard. Thanks much for it. Butif by some twist of fate you guys came to us months down the line asking for help with what we were doing, don't you think we'd give it to you?

When I first started, I didn't know what I wanted to do, but even now, I know that it's not dancer. No offense. I don't even know if it's Jedi I want to do either, but that's probably closer to what it is. So for people like me, to getthere takes us down a well-beaten path that we dread doing. I'm glad I have (1) a relativelyfun profession to do, and (2) you guys to help me out to get through it. I say as well, that it's a hell of a lot easier (and more fun) than having to do a crafting grind - armoursmith, or chef, or whatever. So I could have done a lot worse for myself.

Anyway, thanks one last time for your help - it's been very.....help..ful....Maybe one day I'll be able to assist one of yousomehow. I guess that day would include getting struck by lightning 6 or 7 times. But I do want to show that usHolo-[insert insult here] would help you to do exactly the same thing, AFK macro or not, to get to exactly where you wanted to be. Nothing more or less, that's all I wanted to say.

Great thread. Found what I needed fast from the stickied posts.

Shame tho, that a profession is getting the bum from /afk and macro's degrading the profession.

So far, I've enjoyed my holo professions. Being told to master dancer is a big change in my playstyle, and yea, not one that I'd have done on my own.

I know it's the Dancer forum so it's by nature social and distractive but...

Can we get back to the topic in the title?

Not a single real macro here thus far.

IMHO....AFK musicians/dancers are also a plus...so..how so ? well..lets just say you got off work at a weird time of the day/night..and your profession was..oh...a combat skill...and you just get done hunting ..and you have 600BF...now...you find the closest cantina hoping to get healed..but ...since all the "hard core" entertainers who would rather burn in hell than to afk macro...are sleeping..cuz they just spent 10 hours watching their toon stay in one place.....whos going to heal them? like it or not...flame me if you will like..but for the hunter who hasNO choice but to hear/watch an entertainer..i dont think anyone would pass up a heal......

and before anyone says something...i have mastered musician...twice...the first time i actually sat there hours on end....sure..it was great "fun".....but try doing it a second time...you find out how much it sucked..and i would rather get it over with..and now...im doing dancing.....and want to get it over with whatever way i can..afk or not....

btw...holo stopped talking to me 15 professions ago...so now im just trying to get this done =]

I think all the discussion is obscuring a very important point. There is a scourge among us that must be dealt with

AFK Holomerchants.

These evil cretins will sit around and do nothing to earn their profession, and I think its about time we put it to a stop. My friends in the Entertainer business seem the most sympathetic, so this is where I start. Merchants should be online and At keyboard any time they expect to earn experience.

Right?

Yeah, cause Dancers don't like to shop. *rolls eyes*

Nice necro-posting, this thread was dead for a reason. If you want a macro, look at the sticky. If you want to talk about the "great afk debate", there are like 5 other live threads where it would be appropriate.

I'm sorry you don't understand the difference between the Social design of Dancers and the Crafter design of Merchants, but there is one. I like to think that we are working on more positive ways to talk about the challenges AFK presents for us since this thread was live... how about you get on board with that, k?
