I have to make a few coments here

it is polite to turn /bandflo on

No way Jose, it's my dancer and I won't let someone band flourish me unless they have a good reason, and I dont think having it on will make a room full of AFK tags dancing exotic in leotards with SW1 playing in the background any prettier

If a Master Dancer should walk into your cantina and offer to group with you, bow down.

Please don't I'm just a dancer.

Once you no longer need Dancing XP, you no longer need to flourish.

WHAT?! I can't even begin to tell you how untrue that is! I have to dance thats what I was made to do and to dance I need to flourish!

Musicians are to be respected, Try and do a dance to their song...aka no poplock to Ballad. Also, try and get them to play songs that go with your dancing. Tip them if you have to. Nothing irons out differences of opinion like sharing the wealth...but I warn you. Never, never NEVERcompare tips with your coworkers. Nothing good can come of it.

AMEN! On both points! Turn your sound back on people and take care of the good musicians

I guess I missed the point then.

Personally I'd be happy with a guide that said while not flourishing as a dancer may be fine, if you're a musician you better be flourishing or things will sound awful.

I've done some numbers posts in the past, but they were more along the lines of being experimentation and writing up the results. I haven't made any attempt to draw useful conclusions from them though.. Such as "If you invite the master to the group, you will get the xp from everyone that watches them."

Since you mentioned learning from others.. Perhaps a really useful guide would be a guide on the basics of what it means to be an entertainer. A tome to gather the knowledge passed down from master to student that is being lost as the keepers of the knowledge fade from the game. The basics, like grouping and bands, solo vs group performances, how to actually be entertaining (From chatting to choreography), how to get along with other entertainers, that sort of thing. I've long held the belief that people will play an entertainer the way they are taught. Right now the way they are taught often involves an email with a macro in it they can use when they go to bed. TH has been asking for an entertainer guide to list under Advanced Guides, and I haven't had anything for him. Something like that would fit the bill nicely. Perhaps I'll tackle it if nobody else gets to it first.

That sounds like a terrific idea, Tiaga.

Tiagra....

I think putting together a guide like you mentioned is a wonderful idea. It looks like some groundwork has already been laid by Panthu by her putting up some of the "Classic" posts from the past in the links section. I also found the "Nuboo" (or whatever his name is....) post helpful.

It sounds like a BIG undertaking, but would be a great boon to new and vet Ents alike.

Panthu...

Thanks again! I'll be looking you up. I've actually been to Sandstorm City a number of times on clothes buying trips and to get training. I stopped in Unchained one night just before I had to log and met the town doctor and a musician who were both VERY sweet. I've seen Tarot in passing...but not to chat. So she's a dancer? Who knew? *giggle*

As soon as I have my dance card completed... and figure out how the heck to program my new little Ent Bot, I'll be looking for instruction!

I certainly understand why folks would hole up in a PC Cantina. After being insulted in Theed for not being able to do full Master Buff (he said I was "worthless" to him otherwise.....), I considered doing the same thing...LOL. Don't people realize that Masters have to come from SOMEWHERE? But la-la.....such is life in the theatre...*G*

A little constructive criticism perhaps Panthu?

I see what the guide is trying to say... When I'm dancing solo in a cantina, even a crowded cantina, and even not wearing my title, eventually I start getting healing xp coming in, and I know that means the group isn't getting that xp. The big problem is you're using RP language to speak to the non-RPers.

My suggestion is to focus more on numbers, less on performance. Perhaps then have a separate etiquette guide to cover the other pats. Or maybe the same guide but different well marked sections.

Hehe silly. Well I agree with the first part in any case. Shia and Javy were my role models too.

I can't believe I didn't see this thread untill now. Then againI thinkit wasstarted during my little absence. (Lei wonders when her stupid past mistakes will stop creeping up and kicking her in the derriere.) Anyway, I Really like this thread idea. Lots I agree with some I don't. It has germinated a seed in the back of my mind for a little thread of my own I think I might start.

This might have been said but also remeber if a more experinced dancer offers to give you advise or even gives you clothing, please don't think their putting out down. We were all newbies once. I had some great dancer teachers over on Shadowfire (many who sadly aren't there anymore), and I'm thankful for all of them that took them time to teach me little tricks of the trade.
