Thread: Test! Test! Test!

You have to kind of understand how TC was treated at first to really get it... I love the TC community, but I didn't start hanging out there till I was a Corr. Just try to be really polite if you are coming from a live server and don't let it bother you if people are weird.
I don't think anyone from the Ent Community is going to be busting in going "where are teh frogs!?!?11?!?!?" and frog PvPing, so, I can't imagine many TC regs would have a real problem with visiting Ents.
Well, I did go"where are the frogs?" I did this because I wanted to test the new content for us. Boy did I get shot down in a ball of flames. I went back and apoligized for what I had said. But in my defense the only toons that my husband and I saw were new toons wondering the same thing we were. And we went to four planets and hit the major cantinas. But I do stand by my statements. Hopefully they will bring up a server with the frogs so more people can test the content.

The comparison between afk macroing and the frogs is a good one. Both of them are powerful tools that can be used for a lot of good, but more often than not they are abused and misused.
In my own personal experience, the last time I was on Test Center when it was converted into a "froggy server" back in January is what finally caused a total and complete burnout of the game for me. I suspect I will be back some day, but not until afk macroing and all the major dancer issues are completely addressed. I just got tired of fighting all the time
Anyway, that is neither here nor there, and an important thread like this one shouldn't be a place for personal rants. For those of you who have never really experienced what a frog server can be like, try finding and privately talking to a TC regular about some of the incidents that have occured when frogs have been on TC. I think then you'll understand better why TCer's feel as strongly about the frogs, as dancers feel about afk macroers.
Good luck with the testing, I hope the changes are the start of a step in the right direction.
I will say that there's a large sense of comraderie on TC vs. any Live server I've visited where it's all "me, me, me, now, now, now."
Just one quick example, I started a TC toon and just want to see what the Theater quests required skill-wise. I ran in and realized I couldn't do them, and someone else ran by while I stood by the theater. They ended up giving me a vehicle, a ship, anda few other things.
TC folks in general seem to very generous and helpful. As such, I think they are also rather territorial - which makes sense. It's their nice corner of SWG, and the "gimme gimme gimme" players showed up a while back to mess it all up.
So I understand how some folks react. I just think it tends to come off a little harsh and that one person kind of overreacted when frogs were mentioned.
Oh well, when the TC-(server) comes up, I'll use the frogs and test what I need to. I don't need to level my Musician up to Novice Musician again just to try a new song, I just want to make sure the new song works okay. I guess I see TC-Prime as a "regression" testing environment (we didn't seriously break anything while new stuff got put in), while TC-(server) are for the explicit pupose of testing pretty much only the exact changes that were made, nothing more and nothing less.
There are a lot of really great folks on TC, who do some good testing. I only wish that A) SOE paid you people for your dedication and B) they at least acknowledged some of the horrendous things you folks report, then end up going to Live. That would be extremely frustrating to identify a serious problem, work out steps and report it, then.....see it just pushed Live. I don't think that junk needs to be happening.
Hmm, I noticed that last time I was on TC too. Maybe they thought Test Center was a special "Tutorial" server were you went first to "Test" your new char?

I've been trying to level a dancer on TC recently. One thing that surprises me about TC is how many apparent newbs there are. I mean not just newb to TC, I mean newbs to the game in general. I've seen guys asking lots of really - let's be honest - dumb questions that anyone who has played the game for more than a day or two could figure out. This leads me to believe that a surprising number of TC players are actually starting there and not playing on the Live servers at all. Which really just boggles my mind!

Ooohhhh you can dance with Ana, who was my first character.. she's kinda got no chin (heeey it was my first time making a Twi'lek) and definitely has no skills, as it was about 4 - 5 days after launch that I left Eclipse for Flurry... but we can dance, yay!

The button on the launchpad is broken, you have to find the StarWarsGalaxiesTest shortcut. (Or make one by adding /testcenter to a copy of the regular SWG shortcut.)
Well, of course in my infinite wisdom, I thought that something was amiss on my end and decided to reinstall the TC . . . wrong!
/sigh
Makes me glad I did this a long time ago because I was tired of having to log in twice if I wanted to play on Test Center.

One helpful thing about TC...join a chat channel called "tcpa" when you login. Also you won't find many people in the NPC cantinas, but head to New Unity on Naboo and there are always people in the cantina there.
