Thread: Your #1 issue?
My 1. issue is something, that makes it worth to be a masterdancer.
In moment there is no real reason to master the dancer profession. I miss someting special, an abbilitythat only can do Masterdancers (every other profession in the game has something special as a master) not only 2 dances, which are similar toan older one, and a slightly better healing rate.

You'd figure that game companies would've realised that negative reinforcement does't work by now. Dancers thought they were pariahs before...wait until this thing starts getting used. This "fix" and I use the term ever so loosely will do nothing. Afk entertainers will heal anyway so us denying does nothing except piss people off at us. We have to reapply it after every dance that starts or stops. Which makes the implication even wrong.
Positive reinforcement. Would've been REAL REAL nice to have an 'uber' buff once every 90 minutes. An ability to /engage where I focus on one person and allow that one person only to receive double the effects from my mind enhancement. Not really that overpowering the scheme of things but the smart PvP'ers which from my perspective are the ones who hate dealing with me and like to 'grief' me as an inconvenience to their lives would be the ones who get the largest benefit. It doubles the duration, doubles the enhancement. One customer every 90 minutes...would've been far better iun this entertainers humble opinon to have one happy customer rather then just a lot of pissed off ones...
"My No.1 issue is what makes it worth whileto be a master dancer."
I agree. Something desperately needs to be done about this. Master dancers should at leastget invitations/missions to dance at higher-paying venues.

Why do you assume it's going to be used frequently? We had ways of denying service before (a sole entertainer could force tips byrefusing to dance until he/she was paid), but I haven't seen a single complaint aboutthat abilitybeing abused.
Well some would say why are dancers generally seen in a bad light now? Is it due to those who actually attempt to entertain their customer base or is it due to the long term AFK entertainers who macro tips. These are the people who wiill cause /deny service to become an issue. It will be a minority that will force this command to become an issue because it will be used by the unscrupulous to demand tips.
Dancers have never had the ability you profess they have had. Why...because you could nearly always be assured of there being an afk entertainer in either this city or the next one over.
Beery something doesn't have to be used frequently for the rest of a community to realise it's a bad thing. It simply has to be used in the wrong way at the wrong time on one loud mouthed individual. Any veteran of any gaming board knows he who whines loudest gets heard.
As I've stated elsewhere it's also of very little practical use. Firstly it has to be used every time we restart a song or dance...why it couldn't simply be similar to an /ignore list I don't know. And secondly the community has dealt with the main reason this command was professed to being needed by moving to privately owned cantinas (where /eject and /bandoes a far better job then /denyservice ever will)or simply dancing now for friends, PA members or upon request at private functions.
The people who will benefit from /denyservice are those novice entertainers who are yet to make friends with more established dancers and muso's. The people who will gain the majority of use from this will be griefers. That is tip extortionists. And as these are the people who now exist in the public eye these are the people who entertainers will perceive to be. And as far as these griefers getting a reputation and not being used by combat types to that I say BF is merely a distraction from their main game (killing things). They'll pay whatever it takes to get the coin-operated BF healing machine to work and then post saying how screwed entertainers are. Or in a worse case scenario one of the combat group's RL friends or PA mates will simply take novice dancer and simply make do amongst themselves.
Then again perhaps I'm simply being a naysayer and ignoring all the respect and love we entertainers have had to date.
afk entertainers will just drive the real entertainers to private cantinas or into private venues or perhaps be more vocal in the public cantinas they do frequent. Works for me even if annoying and disappointing. If they don't know how to entertain well they just make the real entertainers that work at it look so much better and that is where the jobs will eventually fall. Also gives those master dancers something to do once they master. How about actually teaching dance to people? Not just group and train. Instead of complaining try some real roleplayed teaching venues, schools, one on one lessons, etc. I've found people very open to it.
Falling still one of my number one issues but I can't bring it up because its already on the list. I have dance III and I have still fallen doing poplock 1 and even rhythmic when doing a gig, ridiculous. And when I see master enterainers fall so much its embarrassing.
So my next and new number one complaint is Action Cost
Why can a musician of any level out flourish and perform a dancer at any level with any dance? Why can master dancers only dance for say 2 or 3 minutes without exhausting themselves with flourishes AND while they're falling down to boot.
Give us graduated action cost based on level of expertise and experience. We shouldn't need to be drugged with pharmaceuticals or dancing on a full stomach to get a few extra minutes out of dancing at that high level of expertise.
"Well some would say why are dancers generally seen in a bad light now? Is it due to those who actually attempt to entertain their customer base or is it due to the long term AFK entertainers who macro tips."
It's neither. The reason dancersare seen in a bad light is because most players regard dancers as worse than prostitutes, and they resent giving dancers tips for the service dancers give, and they resent the fact that they're forced to spend time healing when they feel they ought to be out shooting people. Don't underestimate (or ignore) the fact that it might actually not be the entertainers' fault.
To say that AFK dancers are why the profession is reviled is to create a straw man. AFK entertainers do their job just as well as non-AFKers. If anyone should hate AFKers, it's the entertainers who have to dance with them, since the AFKersgive heals for free and take away potential tips that might have gone to a player who actually bothered to show up for the session.
How embarrassing to take part in an in-game wedding.

I don't have anything new to contribute, but just to add fuel to the fire:
#1 : AFKM entertainers
#2: no real benefit of being a Master Dancer
#3: falling
Hmm, I'm a pretty easy going girl, but I cannot stand eithor of these about the same
--- begging for tips; when you started the career you knew the risks - I have never begged and never wanted, be social and get to know you're customers -- you're an entertainer: Entertain.
-- AFK Macros, I hardly dance in regular cantinas, but I do enjoy stopping by through towns, and chilling out for awhile, and then I see these nice long afk macros, that normally include my above peeve.
*shrugs* When I take on a role player game, I role play, which means I entertain, and I'm actually present when my character is. Who knew ![]()
Have fun guys!

- Falling pain in the butt, no pun. I am glad this is being looked at.
- AFK'ersIt's ok to go AFK to grab dinner or have a bio break. It is not okay to AFK while you watch a movie on the couch. Also, if you are going to AFK, join the group first. It is so irritating to see non grouped performers dancing all over the place, getting healing XP.
- Master Dancer I am still Novice Dancer mostly becauseI decided not to rush leveling in SWG. Besides, after reading the (/sarcasim) 'benefits' of becoming Master, I am still in no rush. I hope there is some development regarding what happens after you reach Master, and not just for this Profession. There were some good ideas listed in previous post, such as use your 'extra' skill points for new flourishes, custom costumes (I love that idea), or to add.. how about giving a cantina or theatre for uber master dancer. Tieing in the Mind Buff that Master Dancers should be able to give, maybe the extra skill points can 'buy' you these buffs. They can be added on skills like the way the language skills are. There is no skill tree for the buff ability. Okay /rant on this.
- Tips This has been an ongoing issue since Beta and still erupts heavy debate on all forums. The reason for the debatearethe ignorant ones who do not understand how economics work. And I am not talking about a college level understanding. All that needs to be understood about the economy in SWG is to just look at how money flows in the real world. You want a service, you pay for it. You need goods, you pay for it. You want entertainment, you pay for it. Let's take a top rated superstar, like J Lo, for example. Everyone wants to know everything about her life. She is mentioned on entertainment news shows daily and an article or two is published about her in the gossip rags. She releases a movie or record, you have to go see it or get it. You pay for it. You are paying to see/listen/watch her work. That is her chosen proffesion and she makes her money by getting everyone else to pay for her work. Just like you work. Thatis what you are doing when you do missions in game by killing things or craft and sell on market. Just like a dancer works by... dancing. SWG's economy is dependant on how everyone interacts and money should flow back and forth, which is not secluded to buying goods... Tips should be looked at as you are paying for a service, just like you pay for medical care or *shock* the way you buy concert tickets in RL. So, basically, SWG's economy is blossoming. It just needs time and effort to make it work. Eventually, if everyone understands the generalities of how the econominy works.
- Action Cost Maybe as you get higher in skill, you action cost is lower. If we look at real life, isn't a dancer in excellent shape able to dance for 2 hours straight (like a Ballet show) without becoming exhausted? The action cost for higher level flourishes and effects needs to be revamped and reduced.
