you have no clue... it took me over 2 year and a move later to put up my "procrastination" poster
anyway, you guys are freaking me out... and since the thread got deleted I'll post this again. I was upset myself about what DaesDream said, however, he went back and changed his post AND posted an apology on this forum. there's not much else he can do. now everyone please go calm down and get some tea, then come back and post something constructive and supportive of entertainers

Will you marry me?
I'm a simple Wookiee, but I'm a good listener and I give great hugs.
Oh, and DaesDream did apologize? I tried to ask that earlier but the posts kept going poof....ack. I can't find the apology 'round here.
*sips her green tea* no problem, go take a number and wait in that "marriage proposal" line over there
as far as I read last night, he went and changed his offensive comment to "I <3 entertainers", and posted an apology that wasn't accepted by most folks that posted.
Thanks for the info.
Hmm....lucky number 3,108. Jesus, this is a long freakin' line. Good thing I brought my chance cube and my Earl Grey. *sip*
Repost from GCW Board)
Normally I wouldn't respond to a flame thread on my character, but in this first day as a correspondent and since you are all just getting to know me, I guess I can make an exception.
Thread in Question:
http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=Tempest&message.id=201850&page=3
Date of Thread:
11/01/2004 - 14 Days Ago, 13 days before I became correspondent.
Purpose of Thread:
For my friend and guildmate to annouce that he was going to be providing a service to the community. He did not make it to hurt entertainers, and he didn't make it to spite them. Not only did he provide a buffing service for the people who wanted it, he also includes in his macro "Invite me to your group for an AFK mind buff, if you need to heal wounds, heal BF, or interact with the entertainers please do not use this service". He isn't interested in taking business away from the ATK entertainers, he is merely providing an option for people who don't have the time to search for the few ATK master dancer/musicians in the cantina. The post didn't make it more than a few hours before he started getting flamed by entertainers.
Purpose of my Response:
My girlfriend (in real life) played an entertainer, a dancer actually, for about a month. It is a profession with extreme issues, most of these issues deal with implimentation. Combat players NEED entertainers, the combat system causes players to accumulate mind wounds and battle fatague that can only be healed by entertainers. Players in turn have to go to the cantina to get those wounds and BF healed right? In theory it sounds like a great idea, however content other than dancing/playing with flourishes was never added for ATK entertainers. As my girlfriend often complained about, she could only get so much enjoyment out of pressing buttons that made her pixles animate differently, but in essence always did the same thing (heal wounds and BF at the same rate). As a result, even my girlfriend, who wanted to play an entertainer spent the majority of her in-game time AFK. The things she enjoyed most about the profession were talking in groupchat to the other entertainers. Her final reason for quitting was that she didn't want to pay $15 per month for a chat room.
Do I wish that entertainers had some end game content? Absolutely. I wish entertainers no ill will whatsoever. However, I was responding to a post that was a flame on my guildmate who was just trying to provide a needed service for the community, and I was doing so, not as a correspondent, but as a friend and a guildmate.
From my somewhat limited reading of the dancer, musician, and entertainer forums I have gathered that the reason you don't like buffbots is because they take away the interaction that you would have with players and as a result they take away your content. However, most people who use buffbots are not the kind of people who are looking to interact with another player in order to get their mind buff, most will not respond to your questions in group chat, will emote back to you, and will not take part in roleplay. I say this because the people who are going to the cantina to do those things are not using the buffbot.
I know buffbots are a gamebreaking issue for everyone on the entertainer boards, but the fact is that they are in game. If your community wants to work towards getting them removed, more power to you. Do what you need to do to help/save your profession. However, trolling posts and flaming people who are providing a service to the community is not a good way to get things fixed.
My guild consists of 100% PvPers. We need an entertainer to come with us on base raids and base defenses. Before we had a buffbot we would often spend an hour before a fight sending tells to every entertainer on our friends list, every entertainer in the cantina, and every entertainer on /who. We would often never find an entertainer who was both ATK, and interested in coming on a base raid with us. As a result some of my guildmates made alt characters who are personal buffers (docs, dancers, musicians) that would always be ready to come with us on raids. This is no different then someone who picks up a smuggler alt, or a crafter alt... Alts are made for convenience and every MMO has them.
This will be my last reply in this post. I am sorry for calling entertainers "annoying". It was a generalization that I know isn't true. We have a former entertainer in our guild who is great and I enjoy talking to her every time we interact, she has never once been annoying to me. My girlfriend (of 3 years) was an entertainer, again, not an annoying person... except when I forget to re-seal the loaf of bread after I use it . I realize now that the word I was looking for was not "worthless" but instead "broken". I urge you to work with your own correspondent to fix the issues with your profession as he/she has been chosen as a correspondent becuase he/she is the most knowledgable about them.
My job is to work with the issues that exist in the GCW, not the ones that exist for entertainers. The purpose of the GCW forum is to focus on issues with the GCW. I am sorry that my comment has caused this thread and taken attention away from the more important (and relevant) issues.
If you wish to ask me a question about this thread or the thread in question please send me a PM. I will not be responding to this thread again, and furthermore I am going to send in a request to a moderator tomorrow to have it deleted or moved to a relevant forum. Yes, so was I. Rumors can be true, no? Hmm, ok...let me think of something bizarre that she hasn't yet done.
This is gonna be tough.
