The New Entertainer will be an exciting new type of profession in MMO gaming. It will be either a social based profession where players interact with other players, or will be several lines of code that will perform all of the same core functions without the disturbing and frighteningpressures of interacting with other players.
*Runs this through the Dev translator*
Translation (with a small margin of error): no
Great! Will you marry me?
omgz!! who gave you a Dev decoder ring?!?
They told me those were Corr Issue only! *feels so not special anymore* /sigh
... and sure, D can be our Warryyr. What the hay.

If, and I say if, nothing is done to stop AFKing, buffbots, etc., then I think we are left with only one solution in order to save the Entertainer, Dancer and Musician professions.
There arejust going to have to be Entertainer Councils.
I propose a system by which there are two Councils: A Light Entertainer Council and a Dark Entertainer Council. To be a Light Entertainer, you simply play the game. To be a Dark Entertainer... well, polish up those recursive macros. Admission to the Light Entertainer Council will be by a vote of the Light Entertainers on quality of performance, engaging personality and interpersonal skills, judicious use of wardrobe/props/effects, and other qualitative benchmarks as deemed appropriate by the Light Entertainer community. Admission to the Dark Entertainer Council will be by... err... I'm not really sure how they'd go about this since they're AFK. Maybe they can fight?
Dancer Entertainers will have specialitems called jewelry that can be crafted by the dancer from loot components, andonce claimed by the dancer, will not work for anyone but the dancer who claimed it. Similarly, Musician Entertainers will have equipment called instruments that must be "tuned"... once tuned by a Musician, the instrument can only be played by that Musician.
Naturally, one cannot be an Entertainer under the proposed system unless one unlocks their special and coveted Entertainer Slot.
I envision that implementation of this should take all development resources away from the rest of the game for at least 2 publishes. I'm sorry about that, but the amount of work really needed to implement this would be pretty staggering.
Discuss.

Oh... Lilo. Looks like you were just too late. Nominations for Dancer Dev Pro Tempore were posted before you asked, and as I have accepted the Dev Pro Tempore position, I'm afraid that joining in Unity with a player would compromise my ability to be out of touch with the playerbase.
My answer therefore must be:

Very well.
By popular request, I accept your nominations for Dancer Dev Pro Tempore, and will fulfill the role of sidestepping issues, denying requests (sort of), and occasionally proposing left-field fixes and content (my favorite)to placate the Dancing Masses, effective immediately.
I will also work closely with Warryyr, the Musician Dev Pro Tempore, to be sure thatwe present as unified a front as possiblein disregarding not just dancer, but ALL elite entertainer issues to the best of our collective abilities. Or, maybe we'll start throwing out totally different answers just for fun, and add a bit of the "if dad said no, go ask mom" facets that we've all come to know and love. We Dev Pro Tempores aim to please; sometimes misdirection and conflicting answers are our finest tools.
Now, Warryyr... where shall we begin... we have them right where we want them, and they think we're listening... mwa hah hah!
