I've said what I did about removing our buffs altogether for two reasons really... one, because I have been considering how such an environment might look down the road, but also to spark some conceptual thought along these lines.
There would clearly have to be another means of drawing a respectable income if buffing was removed, no doubt. However, I think that it may well be thatusing our game mechanics to beg or hopefor other player's generosity may not be working out here in the long run. It seemed like a good idea at the time, and perhaps with a more mature general player base, and a lack of an ability to fully automateour game mechanics that are supposed to be inspiring thisplayer generosity, this system of earning a living might have been a nice twist. But it just isn't working for most entertainers. Not the way our professions have gone, and not the way that the AFK/buffbot doling out of free game mechanics has been allowed to continue. Our system of generating even a moderateincome is very, very broken right now.
I just see it this way. If SOEis unwilling totake definitive steps to stop AFK and buffbotting (which have essentiallynegated our two primary intended methods of deriving income), and follow up by enforcing their own EULA to crack down on the few that will seek out third-party software to cheat, then there is no alternative for us as aplaystylebut to forget about player tips and buff income as ameans of making money. It isn't reliable in the least.Look, replaced by machines.
Recursive macros have degenerated these professions into something largely held to not be worthy of generosity, and it's showing in the wallets and self-esteemof entertainers everywhere. Or is it just that the player base at large has lost the sense of generosity for 'services provided', and instead turned to pure greed? How often are docs tipped for wound/disease healing any more? And even they have an active method of healing... ours can simply be taken passively. How many players out there have you run into that will only shell out credits for something if there is absolutely no other way to get what they want?
It's simple, really. If SOE is not willing to stand up to protect actually playing this game, the only other way to return usto beingviable professions is to dream up a new way of generating income other than through player generosity... or just forget about the notion of participating in the player economy at all. And where's the fun in that?

I think if our buffing ability was removed, we would be in a place to rebuild from. As things stand now, well..we all know where we are now.

So, yeah...my primary choice, make buffing ATK only, my secondary choice, remove them altogether. Things cannot stay how they are right now.
I agree Drygo/Eedai. Pure Entertainers do need a way of generating income from their prof. and buffing certainly isnt it anymore. Fortunately I've had a little luck in resource management, but I wonder how others without lots or secondary streams of income survive.

I hate buffing.
I Hate Buffing.
I HATE BUFFING!
People don't want to chat or socialize on the front end of their combat day. They do seem to enjoy the chat at the end of the combat day. The healing of BF is where I really enjoy being a dancer. The buff, I have almost quit doing because customers are silent during the buff. No chat just buff them and then its NEXT! Ewww, not fun.
My idea is that if we need buff's, then they should be a craftable item that we can sell on bazzars. That way people could get their buff, and their would not be a buff cue or constant tells demanding a buff as they could get all the buffs they wanted from the bazzar.

This is just a feeling but I don't think you have much to worry about. With the upcoming, whenever that is, combat revamp I think the doctors are going to get some nerf love. My feeling is their buffs will come in line with our buffs and not the other way around. Just my thoughts..
