Entertainer business sure doesn't feel like they even care to read it in the first place

The AFK play style has a direct influence on the ATK play style, and at this time it seems the AFK play style seems to be given more consideration. So we hypothesize as to why this might be. Money seems as good a reason as any. In my humble opinion, I don't think you can have your cake and eat it too. At some point decisions will need to be made or the ATK play style will slowlyphase out.

I'll just add my few pennies worth here. I'm a Dancer - I love dancing ! What I do not like is walking into a cantina and having to search through the people there for those who do not have AFK above their heads, because those are the only people worth talking to. I understand those combat folks who come in dont really care who heals their wounds and BF, they're just looking to be in and out fast. As do I, more and more these days.

The problem is that they are used to the situation. They don't really expect to see LIVE entertainment anymore, and more's the pity. The situation is becoming worse and worse with people who care about Entertainment being so disgusted by the state of affairs in the cantina's that they themselves refuse to participate. I'm guilty of this myself. I dance in empty cantina's these days and if someone comes along and joins me they are more than welcome, but if an AFK flag goes up, I disband the group and leave. I will not be brought down by unskilled bot dancers.

Have the Devs come up with a solution in Publish 10 ? Who knows, but I'm sure there'll be people who want the title of Master Dancer / Musician who don't actually care to earn it, but I'm pretty sure the zombie's will be seen less and less often, the crowds will thin and who will be left ? The dedicated entertainers and all credit to them.

I may have lost patience with the hordes of living dead we see these days, but I have not lost hope. Until things change though, I think I'll continue to shoot occasionalvideos anywhere but in the crowded corpse-filled cantina's.

You've made a valid point, Lianne. Actually, most of you have!

Personally, I don't believewe have a change in hades to make our class viable again without the support of our fellow players. The combat types resent us because they are "forced" to seek out our services and we resent them because they don't seem to care about us as players. However, how often does the scene Lianne describe play out in any cantina - including many player ones? Earlier in the week, Roho and I went to Moenia (it is where we met, after all ) and most of the players who ran in to grab a mission from our friendly neighborhood Hutt were amazed to find LIVE entertainers there. Many of them stopped to chat even! Roho and I both receivednice tips - including an extremely generous one from a player who hardly had any mind wounds or BF to bother with! He was just happy to see someone ATK!

Sure, economics plays a huge part in the quality of any game. Listening to your existingcustomer basedoes, too. It won't take much for many of the 13 year olds to run off to the next "great online game". Let's face it - kids bore easily (we were all there once). If SOE plays its cards right and listens to its more mature customer base, it might just find a large group of people who not only are loyal to the "concept" of the game (namely Star Wars) but aren't out to find ways tobreak game mechanics in order to win/win/win.

I just hope that SOE wakes up and listens to the customers they HAVE. They don't know what to do with us because they are looking at us through pinholes. They might have their "ideas" about what they want the entertainer class to be, but it is skewed because theydon't seem to belistening to the very people who are playing the class. They want to use market research and techniques? Then SOE should cull a group of entertainers from their CURRENT base of customers to form a panel. Maybe then they'd find ways to keep this grand experiement from becoming an even grander failure.

While you were in the Southern Hemisphere, Kirah, I was in Theed. There I met a group of Imperials with LFD no less who absolutely loved my perormance. We talked about intergalactic politics and such. But it just goes to show that even if other players have no conception of the value of what we do, they can nonetheless still find the things we do worthwhile when theyexperience them put into practice. I believe in the power of this class.

I agree wholeheartedly, Sirii. Its an educational process. We are hampered, however,by the fact that the devs (and up) don't seem to know what they want our class to really be.At the very least, theycan't seem to come to a general concensus about us.

Still, if we can find ways to inform the player masses how we see our professionand how we can work with them to better their gaming experience, instead of simply complaining about our current state (not that there isn't a place and time for that), then we might be able to gain much needed support. Perhaps more starport jams, more entertainer awareness events, more cantina crawls, more LIVE entertainers in the NPC cantinas will help.

Excellent idea. Only thing is, the panel is already in place in the guise of this forum. Now ifwe could just figure out if they where listening to us or not. . . .hmmm maybe a little bilateral communication would hit the spot.
