I think the real problem on Shadowfire is exactly what Drygo expressed. New dancers see that buff bots are "popular and rich" and live entertainers might also be popular but we aren't rich. So their goal is to become a Master flourisher as quickly as possible. This means there are fewer and fewer cantinas where you can find a group of lively and fun entertainers to spend some quality time with. We used to have Theed. Now we have moved to Bestine but even that cantina now has several who are always afk and it doesn't get the traffic that Theed did. It's like we're in hiding... and that gets old and frustrating. I want to be able to spend several hours in a cantina and have the majority of people who come inside do more than look at their gun while they stand there in silence. I want to stand in a cantina and not have someone in comp armor stand on top of my feet while they repeatedly ask for an invite to some buff bot standing 3 feet away from me. I want so little and yet it seems to be the impossible...

Ikewe I have to agree with that..it does seem to be the concious of most people on Shadowfire. Like you I've thought many times of giving up my title of master dancer..despite having mastered it under two characters. Its frustrating to have people demand buffs from me in the rudest of ways. Makes it darned hard to keep up hope that we'll eventually get respected.I get more respect under Sariana with her Master Tailor tag up then her Master Dancer one. But Sariana will always be a Master Dancer. Sadly though..I will be giving up Master Dancer with Renea to persue the path of a Jedi sometime in the near future.Probably within the next month or so I'll be giving it up to take up more combat skills to prepare for my new profession path.

Get out of the cantina! On Corbantis we simply went outside the Theed cantina and left the zombies to the room. The street right outside is WIDE and gives you dancers a fantastic stage for preforming very nice synchronized dancing. Formal looks great with a circle of 8 dancers in long dresses doing it coordinated and literally had several combat players commenting on how beautiful it was.
We had a 4 day party doing this! We also surprised so many players that have not seen this kind of performance. I don't care how hard you try there simply isn't room in the cantina to truly have the vista to view these performances well. So get outside. If some of you still need experience let them do the bandflo's, if they need healing experience then let them switch inside and outside.
But simply get out of the cantina but not out of the area. It really is a blast.

When the dancers were doing formal in a big circle we got the most complements from passers by.
Last time I was at the starport and performing Lyrical for the masses, I'm pretty sure I got two phone numbers (/tell's). I think those dances are absolutely beautiful, and I really wish the bug associated with them could be fixed soon. Formal and Lyrical are two of the most interesting dances that can be done in wide-open spaces with a small number of dancers, and I think they capture the most attention of any of our available tools. (I suppose Distractions and Dazzles really aid in that, even when outside, but the flashing lights can sometimes annoy me.

Hmmm... can't really judge the general situation, I almost exclusively interact with roleplayers, who appreciate dancers. I rarely buff, and rarely get buff requests, even though I am always wearing teh master dancer tag. On Starsider though it seems as if entertainers are not in bad shape, at least among the roleplaying community.

You used to buff my guild on SS. Khazad brought you out to buff us on Tat whenever we had a guild hunt there. He was a big Pixies fan (and Ramona fan too I think). So, you used to buff me sometimes.

Then to top it off, 4 players were so shocked to find a dancer who was actually at the keyboard that they tipped me just for being there.
I personally have done this several times.
Most of the Combat profs, while they do appreciate the ease of mind buffs available through buff-bots, still prefer to receive the Buffs from a live person.
I use Briha the Buffbot in Coronet on Bria pretty frequently, but I always appreciate it more when the player is actually there behind the toon. Which, actually happens more than you might suspect.
That said, I'm all for encouraging real player interaction, and ending the bot practices.
