Forgive my stepping into this conversation - There is usually a personality behind the bots, but they often play more than one character. Those people meet through their mains and exchange info in that way. I know I personally play with the controllers of several bots on a regular basis and they're constantly trading macros and tweaks and such for each others bots.
And this is exactly why i worded what i said carefully i said usually andoften and NOT always.
Eelis is my main butshe now buffs afk some of the time for my guild whilstI am killing stuff with my alt -some may say she is a *buff bot* despite the fact that I actually "play" her quite actively also.
I would imagine that nearly all the buff bots are second accounts- to a point there is nothing wrong with afking -but when it undermines an active "at the keyboard" entertainer who is actually *playing* their profession, not just running a macro, it causes offense andundermines that persons profession.
In any event,my postwas not ment to be a dig at people who play the game with personality andrespect to other players, so if you dont thinkit applies, dont take offense.

Who cares if they are a bot or not? Anyone noticed the lack of entertainers now? Bots are the only way i get music buffs cause they are the only ones that are on, seems like entertainer/musician/dancer is a dying breed and I loved playing my musician. I even made some good cash doing it and met my ingame wife through entertainer and musician. Got me a whole force tree in the process haha.

Its sad that buffbots and supporters of buffbots get on here and argue (not to mention have a signature that states that arguin is pointless - Which I took offense to, also... so how about removing that signature completely... it'll save you from being kicked out of game and off the forums for a week at least 
) I for one do not condone the act of being a completely afk toon... whats the point of PLAYING a game if you aren't playing? I enjoy my conversations I have in the cantina, thats why I have two entertainer toons... that and so I can buff myself to kill those jedi 
But, its a great change of pace to be able to sit back and relax and chat w/ people about anything and everything, instead of being harassed. You should try it sometime... actually sit down at your entertainer character instead of walking away, alt+tabbing to another toon... or whatever... enjoy 'em while you've got 'em. Thats the way you've got to look at it.

I for one wouldn't mind changing up my style to help out a polite person... but if you walk into a cantina and spam "I NEED MIND BUFF"like a fool... guess what all you're gonna get is a buffbot... cause I don't know any atk entertainers that would help you. So be considerate before flaming the entertainers... we aren't out pvping, we aren't overcharging you for junk... we're there to heal and help the friendly.

Ummmmm just to play devils advocate .... did you know some buff bots use the /deny so that those trying to get mind heal ing off of them can not ... so people are forced to watch the live ents who are grinding and need ent heal xp... so its actually a service to the live ents ... like the buff bots that spam (and I hate spam) to watch live ents to get mind heals and not them...
I suppose no one asked the buff bot why she was spamming /deny
Lets try not to think of buff bots as the Devil Incarnate ... I tend to frown on em ... but I also dont think attcking them or being rude to them is the fix.

this would hold if the buffbot was denying service to everyone... however it seems that the buffbot was specificly targeting known live entertainers just to spam their system messages. that's not cool

See the problem is most buff bot owners are stupid. They think that by putting somebody on a deny macro that it will deny them service, cept it just does it for 5 minutes, then gives them service for 5 minutes because it's a toggle. As far as asking the bot goes, hello, it's a bot, they're AFK like 23 out of 24 hours a day, if not more since there's no more daily reset. Only way to get a bot that's spamming you with system messages to stop is to do what the poster did, get a CSR to disconnect them.
