Thread: Solution For Dancer/Musician Income (Sorta long)

It's all silly "game mechanics" every way you go. So please don't use this argument, it has more holes than swiss cheese.
Alright then. Explain what benefit this ability (targeted healing) would bring to the game besides more money in your pocket. I guarantee the devs won't implement just to give you more tips.
At first, I was in agreeance with Insense, but I see SlickRiptide's point. A compromise could be a small fee for guest to pay to enter that would be divided up to the entertainers in the cantina. Once a person enters a bar or club, the R & R comes free, and customers voluntarily tip good service. This should be the case in the game. Thanks Slick for pointing that out.

Becoming a Master Dancer/Musician is more often than not worthless other than role-play value.
Funny, I thought that was the whole point why we played this game...
I wasn't aware of the economic goals of winning. Money is great, money is nice, but money is a game mechanic and not why I play the game. If people examine why they play the game I really doubt earning imaginary money will be near the top.
That being said this in an interesting thread pro and con with many well written ideas and opinions. However we play the game for what reason? Keep it in mind when you run out of ideas, resources, money, clothes or flourishes. Get back to the basics. Then look at things with a fresh perspective. Poor or rich an entertainer can be an entertainer.
His advice: Entertainer. Roleplay is built into the class. That's what it's there for.
And thus I am playing a dancer/entertainer type. I love it. XP and tips are irrelevent to me really. It's nice to get them but I am here for the RP. As long as I get that I don't care about anything else.
I am not really a fan of having to select people to heal. I'm busy dancing and roleplaying. I don't want to have to keep stopping to click-hold-select-heal someone.
What I would not mind is a system notice with a little chirp beep saying, "So-and-so is now watching you." That would let me know who is watching my little dancer and help me focus my RP in their direction. In RL you can see someone staring at you... it'd be nice if the game told me that my PC saw someone staring at her so I could react to it.
Other than that, I like things the way they are.

I'm beginning have a very strong suspicion that the entertainers who complain about lack of tips are the ones that get up there and act the dancing-leotard-bot for four hours in silence. Obviously, tip income is going to fluctuate over time, but trust me, your average will be much higher if you're a sweet lil' chatterbox.
Come on! Don't fight it. The Entertainer is a social class. Be social!

Sorry guys, but forcing tips is not the answer. If you have that much problem making money, look to join a private cantina that charges an entry fee, take up a second profession that at least helps make a bit of money, run missions, or start analyzing why it is that you aren't making money on tips to begin with.
That is NOT intended to be a shot. There are MANY reasons that people don't get tipped, some of the most obvious being choice of location, or time of day playing or a combination. Obviously the time of day you play isn't something within most people's control, but what I'm saying is that if you *aren't* doing well in Cantina A during XX hours, then try somewhere else.
We are not "owed" tips for what we do. They are for exceptional service, and a job well done. Does that mean that everyone's going to tip you, or tip well? nope. But it also doesn't mean that giving all the "Tip Me Plz" macro-ers a way to deny services is the answer either.
You do realize having the most expensive clothes, such as exotic leotards, is a luxury? It's not something you 'NEED' it's just something you want. All dancers make enough money to support there needs. Oh wait, what needs are those exactly? Clothing, that's it that's all.
We fighting classes need to constantly replace our weapons and our armor. That costs an arm and a leg to do. Imagine how much it's going to cost me to replace (When i can no longer repair it or if i have it sliced)my full composite armor and sliced commando weapons/carbine/rifle/pistol. We're talking hundreds of thousands of credits. So yes fighting classes need to make a lot of money constantly to keep up with there equipment.
But dancers? You people constantly complain about money money money. For gods sakes you don't need an exotic leotard or flesh wrap. You can dance anywhere for a day or two and make enough creds to get yourselves ok clothing. But no, you want the expensive higher up stuff. Well that's a luxury, such as composite armor. Do you see everyone running around in composite armor? No, it's a luxury for players who bust there ass getting creds.
And if you're not happy with the money you make, either change professions or do what most RL dancers do, go chase the money...dont sit on your asses waiting for it to come to you. Your cantina not rewarding you financialy? MOVE, go to another one. Do enough delivery missions if need be to buy a ticket and relocate. Seriously, i'm getting sick of hearing you people bitch about money. I know 3 dozen dancers personally that have more money then they can spend. They know how to find the good tippers and they know how to keep them coming to them. If you don't, then too bad. Not every RL dancer makes a lot of money. Some of them are forced into being prostitutes. But the "GOOD" dancers make a lot of money. And that's also true in this game.
But seriously, in game terms, I have one belief that I hold very strongly that you shan't dissuade me from and it is simply this:
ALL -professions- should be capable of 'making a living' by doing only those things involved in using/building the skills contained within that profession. ALL of them. That's it, end of line. If it doesn't meet that requirement, it's not worthy of being called a profession, it's a hobby and it's broken and out of balance with other professions. Anyone can do a Fed-Ex, yeah, but Fed-Ex is not within the scope of ANY profession. It requires no skill and rewards you for nothing. Fed-Ex should be a supplemental source for newbies and people in a bind and nothing more, IMO. Each and EVERY profession should be able to make enough money to have a reasonable life without going outside of the tasks required of their own skills. That is -MY- bottom line.
