I still think that if we are looking at a system like this we need to make it as EASY on the devs as we can to make it more likely (as un-likely that it will go in anyways)that they will do it.

Which is why I believe that We could tie, Missions, Quests(add more for going up the profession as well as just more for titles or what ever random leet lewt we might want or could sell so that we could then buy stuff we wanted.), We could pull the visibility system from Jedi, And the FRS system...

And they could all be combined in ways so that we would have aspects of all the different Play styles with in the system (achiever, Killer, Explorer and we are already the social professions...)

My suggestion would be that you would have to do a quest to get started into the Fame system. Once IN it. Missions would add a little bit to your Fame(aka those stupid mission where you go play for some one should get you a little better known), More quests that like say could get you into Jabbas to perform for him,(once you get in the top 10 maybe get quests to go play for like Luke or Palpatine), Visibility system would simply be just like the Jedi system where NPCs, PC add to your fame by performing within a certain distance.(Would only start recording visibility after you have been skill animating for at least 5 minutes.), FRS Top 10 Musicians and Top 10 Dancers with a ranking system of 1-20 for each which would be the "Superstars" and get special titles, maybe limo speeders, Show up on those Posters at Theatres. Once a day NPCs could pull the top 10 of each from the database and talk about them randomly as people walk by. IF they are talking about you they could maybe ask for an autograph (if you don't give it your fame would drop some).

Fame would decay over time like the Jedi visibility. If you’re out of the spot light people will move on to the next big thing.

Using systems that are already in the game and with some changes to them we could get a Fame system... I honestly think that if we try and get some utterly brand new system that requires all new coding and what not that it will NEVER happen. (It could very well never happen anyways...)

A question, do entertainers get higher paying gigs when grouped? I never thought to try that when I was on.

Nope..and level doesn't effect it either. Mission cap is 1200 and the range I've been able to pull were all between 1000 & 1200 regardless of level of the character I was on.

I really like the idea of several factors playing into the "fame quotient". Not only does more stuff = less boredom but we represent so many different playstyles. Some of us would be happy with missions being the only factor, others would love to have holo-performances produced by us and sold/exchanged with a "fame factor" involved..maybe a high fame rating would get your holo-performances shown at a cantina when there is no one around to perform. Some would prefer a performance based system, others a mechanics based one. I think we can have a multi-faceted system without it being "too complex" by keeping the different facets to something straight-forward and basic.

I'm loving reading this discussion.

I thought about tieing it in with being registered or mission... but honestly I think that doing an outdoor wedding, or Player event should count... Cantina Crawls and the like that are on some servers.

I think that bots that did the quest to get into the system(griefing?) would get limited for the most part to Fame only gained by visibility. Which to help limit I think That each PC/NPC could be limited to how much Fame they could add each day to a performer. So say your in a cantina for a few hours all the NPCs in that cantina would have reached their limit for the day.(Idea being that like every hour the NPC or PC does a check and adds more fame pretty much 2 checks would be the be needed to reach the limit so an hour for the max fame from an NPC while a PC would be able to come with in visibility range and then like an hour later come back and max out for the day.) So that Entertainers trying for Ranking could move around to different places, and do missions and what not while bots would only get fame from one part of the system.(still some more ideas to help keep bots from ranking might be good)

I was also thinking the top 10 ranks could have PvPish type quests where you would go up against another of the Ranked Performers and (idea not thought of yet) but who ever won would gain fame while who ever lost would lose some.

My hubby came up with another suggestion:

Celebrity status based on location.

There would be different statuses based on where and how often you perform. Say you're a bot planted at the Coronet Cantina. You get the prerequisite20 listeners, congrats, you are now a local celebrity for that area. Since you never move, you never get additional status. Twenty may not seem like much, but hang on and read the rest of this.

Now, say you're a live ent, and you do the same thing and get local celebrity status forCoronet. Then you take your dancing shoes and go to Kor Vella and get 20 more so you are a local celebrity there. You do this again in Tyrena. You now have status as a local celebrity in 3 major cities. You are now a planetary honoree, or somethin like that. So you're famous on Corellia, congratulations!

Being the driven superstar you are, you now go and repeat this entire pattern, gaining status in Mos Eisley, Bestin, and Mos Espa. Then you travel and gain status in Theed, Kadaara, and Moenia. You are now a well known figure on three planets, which qualifies you for Fame status, you are a Galactic Icon, THAT is an accomplishment and not one many bots would bother with.

This would work because first of all, most bots don't travel, plain and simple, ruins their whole idea of being available in a reliable place. Second, getting 20 listeners is one thing, getting them to follow you to 8 more locations is a whole other ballgame. Add in that most people flock to Theed, Bestine, or Coronet and don't really go to the other cities for entertainment and voila!you actually have to have real friends to help you achieve status, not well-trained customers.

Love it..

I think that if they are going to inclue a "Watched/Listend" counter that each person should only count for 1 watch/listen person no matter how many times they watch ...

I thinka combo would be really good...

  1. You need to do a quest to start getting fame.. A long time consuming quest that is spread out over 3 days time(Longer it takes, less bots will other to do it)

  2. Then you need to get watced for2 Min(PC Cantinas) or5 Min(NPC Cantinas) by people in varous cantinas

  3. After ever 20 Watch/Listen you have to go to arandom NPC todo a performace tailored to the NPC in order to advance your fame level more.. (Dancer/Musician Traner gives you the NPC to go to)

  4. You can only get a count of 20 at any given cantina.. so if 20 people watch you in Naboo you can't get more counts in Naboo.

Thanks I'm still trying to sort out my thoughts on it into something a little better looking to send to the devs... as that's just the rough general idea of it.
